Bringing Classic Music Experiences to Children in Harajuku: 'Supported by WITH HARAJUKU' Launches in July 2026

Experience Gap Resolution: Classic Music for Kids

Introduction

On July 24, 2026, a transformative event titled "Supported by WITH HARAJUKU こども音楽食堂" will take place in Harajuku, Tokyo, continuing until July 26. Organized collaboratively by the Social Welfare Corporation Sapout 21 and the Pacific Philharmonia Tokyo, this initiative aims to bridge the cultural experience gap for children with limited access to the arts.

Objective

The Children's Music Cafeteria is designed to provide children who might not have opportunities to encounter culture and arts with live music performances and light meals at no cost. This project aspires to create a more equitable environment for cultural and artistic experiences among children from diverse backgrounds.

Event Highlights

1. Intimate Musical Experience
Unlike conventional concert settings, attendees will have the unique chance to enjoy live performances by professionals from Pacific Philharmonia Tokyo at remarkably close proximity, allowing them to feel the raw power and presence of the music firsthand.

2. Engaging for First-Timers
The programming will include child-friendly pieces and introductions to various instruments, making it an ideal opportunity for children experiencing classic music for the first time.

3. Meal Vouchers
Children who pre-register and attend will receive meal vouchers that can be utilized in select restaurants within the WITH HARAJUKU complex, enhancing their overall experience.

About the “Children's Music Cafeteria”

The Children's Music Cafeteria initiative serves as a new addition to the efforts by Sapout 21 to support cultural and artistic enrichment for children. In a society where cultural experience disparities are increasingly recognized, this project combines the expertise in supporting refugees and individuals from foreign backgrounds accumulated over 34 years by Sapout 21, with the artistic prowess of Pacific Philharmonia Tokyo. By offering children access to music and meals, the initiative seeks to reduce the experience gap significantly.

About Sapout 21

Conclusion

The Supported by WITH HARAJUKU event is not merely a series of concerts; it represents a concerted effort to afford children—from all walks of life—the chance to engage in culture and arts, which may otherwise be inaccessible.
