The Nakameguro Bon Odori Festival is back for its second edition, set to take place on August 29th and 30th, 2026, at Funai River in Nakameguro, Tokyo. This year's theme is “Dance, Connect, and Become One with the Town,” encouraging residents and visitors of all ages to come together in a vibrant celebration of community and culture.

What’s New This Year?

The festival has been revamped based on feedback from participants last year, which saw around 13,000 attendees over the two days of festivities. The highlight for 2026 will be the introduction of live performances during the bon odori dances, infusing energy and excitement into the event. The aim is to create a unique, inclusive environment where generations can dance together, fostering connections among locals, businesses, and visitors.

Festival Highlights

1. Live Performances: Experience two full days of dancing accompanied by live traditional music, enhancing the vibrant atmosphere of the festival.

2. Expanded Hours: This year’s opening has been moved to 1 PM, allowing families to enjoy a full day of activities. Visitors can savor delicious foods from food trucks, including yakisoba, kebabs, and candied apples before the evening dances commence.

3. Children’s Activities: Last year's popular child-friendly booths will return, offering activities such as yo-yo fishing and ring toss for just 200 yen each.
