Medline Secures Major Contract with Veterans Administration to Enhance Healthcare Supply Chain Management

Medline's New Contract with Veterans Administration

On February 10, 2025, Medline, a leading provider of medical-surgical products and supply chain solutions, announced that it has secured a crucial contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The company was awarded 19 out of a possible 20 delivery orders aimed at supporting the Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs), which are responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare to veterans across the nation.

The contract entails the distribution of medical-surgical products to a majority of VA Medical Centers (VAMCs), forming a pivotal part of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the largest integrated healthcare system in the U.S. This agreement also extends to various Other Government Agencies (OGAs), including the Indian Health Service (IHS), Bureau of Prisons (BOP), and Health and Human Services (HHS).

Currently, the VHA provides healthcare services to approximately 9 million veterans through more than 1,300 healthcare facilities throughout the country. The five-year contract is expected to significantly streamline supply chain processes, enhancing both efficiency and accuracy as part of the VA's continual improvement efforts.

Medline, recognized for its state-of-the-art supply chain solutions, operates a vast network comprising 45 distribution centers nationwide. Additionally, the company boasts an owned fleet of over 2,000 MedTrans trucks, ensuring timely and reliable service to VA facilities. Chris Powers, Medline’s Vice President of Government Services and a military veteran himself, emphasized that factors such as competitive pricing, effective past performance, and the commitment of Medline's dedicated team contributed to winning this prestigious award.

With new delivery orders combined with existing contracts, the estimated annual revenue is likely to exceed $1 billion, servicing over 90% of the Veterans Integrated Service Networks. Medline also has comprehensive experience working with numerous federal and state entities, including but not limited to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The award underscores Medline's extensive expertise in supplying healthcare products and services across a range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, public schools, and emergency services. The firm’s robust representation in the field ensures that each agency's unique needs are thoroughly met through contract compliance, dedicated customer service, and operational support.

Moreover, Medline places a strong emphasis on clinical outcomes by providing evidence-based programs and technology support to enhance healthcare delivery. The company has established itself as a crucial player in the healthcare supply chain, facilitating the seamless operation of healthcare services across the nation.

In reflecting on the award, Powers stated, “With every new relationship we forge, we keep the customer and their patients at the center of all we do, and we are honored to continue our work with the VA to serve our nation's veterans.”
