Anpi Care: A Lifeline in Times of Disaster
In the wake of increasing natural disasters, the safety and well-being of elderly individuals and those with disabilities receiving home medical care has become a pressing issue in communities. Vakan Inc. will present its innovative SMS disaster response service, Anpi Care, at the upcoming CareTEX Tokyo 2026, which will take place from August 19 to 21 at Tokyo Big Sight.
The Essence of Anpi Care
Anpi Care is designed specifically for home healthcare and caregiving sectors. This disaster response service allows users to confirm the safety of patient conditions through an SMS alert system. What makes it unique is its simplicity; there’s no need for app downloads or pre-registration, only a mobile phone number is necessary to access the service. Users will receive a single SMS that conveys their status, enabling timely communication with all associated stakeholders without the need for multiple outreach efforts.
During its initial showcase in February 2026 at CareTEX, Anpi Care garnered positive feedback. An impressive 84% of surveyed visitors found the system intuitive, indicating the potential for SMS and web browsing as effective channels for communicating patient safety information. Following this, the service entered a social verification phase in June 2026, inviting home healthcare providers to participate and providing free online training to help identify key considerations before implementation. This upcoming exhibition marks the first public demonstration since entering the social verification stage.
The Importance of Implementing BCP
The recent escalation in natural disasters has prompted regulatory bodies to emphasize the development of business continuity plans (BCP) for home healthcare services. From April 2024, providers of in-home care services will be mandated to create and test their disaster response protocols. A similar requirement will apply to medical institutions starting from the June 2026 consultation fee revisions, aiming to ensure preparedness across the sector. As many existing safety confirmation systems are built around centralized office spaces, they fall short in accommodating the complex nature of communicating with the homebound population scattered across the community.
Key Features of Anpi Care
Anpi Care effectively connects users with services during emergencies through its innovative features:
- - Mass SMS Sending: Automated alerts linked to meteorological data ensure timely communications.
- - Simple Response Interface: Users can respond with just a few clicks, making the process accessible and quick.
- - Centralized Reporting: The responses are collated in real-time to provide a cohesive status update across involved organizations.
- - Training Mode for BCP: The service includes functionality to facilitate ongoing training for disaster preparedness.
Visitor Experience at the Exhibition
During the CareTEX event, attendees will have the chance to experience the Anpi Care service firsthand. Within just one minute, visitors can register their phone numbers and receive SMS alerts as if they were in a disaster situation. This experience showcases the user-friendly nature of the system, allowing them to respond with their statuses easily.
Looking Ahead
Vakan is aiming to evolve Anpi Care into a comprehensive safety confirmation platform, allowing collaboration between home care providers and municipal organizations. By enhancing information sharing and situational awareness, it aspires to improve disaster response capabilities across communities.
