TAIYO YUDEN Launches Updated High Voltage Conductive Polymer Electrolytic Capacitors

TAIYO YUDEN Unveils New Capacitor Series for Automotive Applications

TAIYO YUDEN CO., LTD., a leading manufacturer based in Tokyo, has introduced its new line of conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors known as the HVX (-K) and HTX (-K) series. This innovative product can handle large currents and high voltages, making them particularly suitable for critical applications in the automotive industry, such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and power steering controls.

Product Overview

The HVX and HTX series consist of 46 different types of capacitors that have recently been commercialized. These capacitors not only meet but exceed the AEC-Q200 Stress Test Qualification standards, ensuring their reliability in demanding conditions. They range in size from φ6.3 x 7.7 mm to φ12.5 x 16.5 mm, with an impressive rated voltage of up to 80V and an operational temperature tolerance of 135°C. For instance, the RAHTX181M1RGP5005K model, with a rated capacitance of 180 µF, maintains its performance even under high ripple currents.

Manufacturing Process

Mass production of these capacitors commenced at TAIYO YUDEN's subsidiary plants in Shirakawa and Aomori in June 2026. The company's commitment to producing high-quality components is evident in the sophisticated design and selection of materials used in these hybrid capacitors. The incorporation of conductive polymer with an electrolyte solution allows for low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and the self-repairing capability of anodic oxide films, achieving both high performance and longevity.

Key Benefits

With the automotive industry experiencing a shift towards higher efficiency, the demand for capacitors able to manage increased voltage levels, particularly around 48V, is growing. The HVX and HTX series capacitors address this need effectively, providing enhanced noise suppression and power smoothing capabilities. This is especially essential due to the rising complexity of electronic systems in vehicles, including electric drivetrains and ADAS functionalities.

Applications

The applications of these capacitors extend beyond just automotive; they are also well-suited for various electronic control systems requiring robust power supply circuits.

Conclusion

TAIYO YUDEN's dedication to innovation in hybrid capacitors signals a positive response to market demands. As vehicles increasingly become interconnected with advanced technology, the need for reliable and efficient components will only grow, positioning TAIYO YUDEN at the forefront of this evolution. The new HVX and HTX series capacitors are not only a testament to the company’s manufacturing prowess but also a crucial development for the automotive sector moving forward.
