High school students across the Bay Area are presented with an exciting opportunity to build their futures through the 2026 Norman Mineta Bay Area High School Academy, a paid summer program aimed at introducing young adults to careers in public service and regional leadership.
What is the Academy?
This four-week immersive experience will take place starting July 2, 2026, and students can expect to engage deeply with topics such as transportation, housing, air quality, and environmental justice—issues that significantly influence daily life and future challenges within the Bay Area.
The Academy is sponsored by several key public agencies, including the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Association of Bay Area Governments, and the Bay Area Air District. Together, they work to educate students on how these organizations collaboratively tackle pressing regional issues.
Engaging Learning Experience
Students participating in the Academy will attend interactive seminars that delve into important subjects, such as:
