Discovering Local Charm through Healthcare
Urban Techno Co., Ltd., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, has embarked on an innovative project called the "Mirai Co-Creation Marche." This initiative aims to connect local food, culture, and communities through hospitals, leveraging the network developed from the "Hospital Marketing Summit JAPAN" and the "Mirai Hospital Support Team." The inaugural event will take place at the Tottori University Faculty of Medicine Hospital, featuring the "Tori-dai Summer Marche 2026" on August 28, 2026.
The hospital is not only a place for treatment and care; it acts as a vibrant hub where various individuals, including patients, their families, medical professionals, students, and local residents, can engage with each other. By transforming these interactions, the project seeks to turn hospitals into spaces where new relationships flourish and local charm is discovered.
The Vision for Mirai Co-Creation Marche
The primary goal of this project is to create opportunities for people to encounter products from different regions while also learning about the culture, scenery, and stories of local producers. By presenting these narratives through food, exhibitions, and experiences, the Marche will foster understanding and support for local artisans and communities. Each purchase made is a step closer to discovering and supporting the essence of local regions.
At its core, the initiative is about laying the foundation for relationships between hospitals and local communities. The first demonstration at Tottori University Hospital will serve as a catalyst, with plans to expand the concept across hospitals nationwide, gradually developing a sustainable framework for regional co-creation.
The Launch of Tori-dai Summer Marche 2026
Set for August 28, 2026, Tori-dai Summer Marche will occur in the Hanazaki Terrace area of the Tottori University Hospital and surrounding spaces. This event aims to bring together a diverse audience—patients, families, healthcare professionals, students, and local residents—to explore various regional foods and cultures. Attendees can expect free samples of a unique drink inspired by the Tottori Sand Dunes, along with a range of products and cultural offerings from across the country. Vendors like "Nezukuriya" from Tokyo’s Bunkyo City will introduce local goods from places such as Kitakyushu, Kyoto, and Noto, showcasing the cultural richness and stories from those regions.
In addition to food, local educational institutions will participate in demonstrating and selling Kyoto's traditional vegetables. Young entrepreneurs, including elementary school students from Osaka’s Kitakagaya, will operate a candy shop, allowing the youth to actively contribute to the event.
The Marche intends to create a space where visitors can experience a miniature journey through Japan while engaging with local products. This concept will seamlessly link eating, learning, and supporting, fostering a community spirit right in the hospital.

Its emphasis lies not only on delivering products but also in narrating the stories behind them, effectively translating and communicating the richness of local cultures.
Reimagining Hospitals as Community Spaces

Expanding Beyond a One-Day Event
Urban Techno's vision is to create a sustainable system beyond a one-off market. By analyzing feedback from the Tottori event regarding product sales, display methods, and operational strategies, they aim to develop future gatherings. Future initiatives may include:
- - Continuation of the Mirai Co-Creation Marche in hospitals nationwide.
- - Regular availability of local products in hospitals and pharmacies.
- - Collaborations with local businesses and municipalities for pop-up events.
- - Opportunities for students to get involved in delivery and outreach initiatives.

- - Information sharing highlighting the narratives behind regional landscapes and cultures.
With the Mirai Co-Creation Marche, Urban Techno is nurturing a new framework for community engagement that begins within hospital walls.
