VEEMO Parking Launches Experimental Parking Reservation Service in Collaboration with NEXCO East Japan

Introduction to VEEMO Parking

VEEMO Inc., a fully-owned subsidiary of Autobacs Seven, headed by President Yugo Horii, is excited to announce an innovative parking reservation service called "VEEMO Parking". This pilot project is set to take place in collaboration with NEXCO East Japan at the Hibiya Parking Facility from September 7 to October 26, 2026. By integrating a user-friendly smartphone app, VEEMO, this service aims to transform the way we approach urban parking.

Key Features and Objectives

One of the main highlights of this experimental project is the combination of pre-booked parking spaces and vehicle license plate recognition technology. This dual approach not only creates a more efficient parking experience but also addresses persistent challenges faced by drivers in urban environments. People often spend excessive time searching for available parking spaces, and specific needs, such as access to EV charging spots, are frequently not met. The initiative is part of the "Dora Pura Innovation Lab Phase V" by NEXCO East Japan, focused on fostering open innovation and advancing customer experiences in parking usage.

Pilot Project Overview

The pilot takes place at the Hibiya Parking Facility located beneath Hibiya Park in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. It will involve specific parking spaces equipped with EV charging capabilities and wider parking spots tailored for unique user needs. The parking reservation can be done via the VEEMO app, allowing users to book spaces up to 30 minutes before arrival. An IoT device known as the "VEEMO Stand" will facilitate this process by automatically lowering when a registered vehicle approaches.

Enhancements in User Experience

  • - Reduced Waiting Times: The pre-booking feature significantly cuts down on wait times, allowing drivers to secure their spot in advance.
  • - Smooth Entry Process: License plate recognition enables seamless access, eliminating the need for manual checks upon entry.
  • - Effective Space Management: With the VEEMO Stand, reserved areas are efficiently managed, ensuring that designated spaces are readily available.
  • - Optimizing Specialized Parking: The service promotes better utilization of specific spots like EV charging or wider spaces, catering to diverse driver requirements.
