Tokyo University of Science to Host Evening Seminar with Architect Naoki Hashimoto

Evening Seminar at Tokyo University of Science

On November 7, 2025, Tokyo University of Science will hold an intriguing evening seminar titled "A Single Wire" featuring renowned architect Naoki Hashimoto. The event will take place at the university's Tokyo Senju Campus. Professor Hashimoto is widely recognized for his role as the lead designer of the "Dynamic Balance Pavilion", an innovative structure for EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai, under the concept developed by biologist Shinichi Fukuoka.

The "Dynamic Balance Pavilion" seeks to embody Fukuoka's philosophy of "dynamic balance" through architecture. Hashimoto has been instrumental in all phases of the project's development, including conceptual design, detailed planning, and supervision. His architectural vision emphasizes the idea of "transient architecture"—a design that celebrates life's inherent softness and features lightweight, flexible structures capable of extraordinary adaptability.

During this seminar, Hashimoto will delve into the conceptual development of the pavilion, discuss the architectural processes involved, and share insights into the creative journey that brought this ambitious project to fruition.
