M&A Capital Partners and Ehime Shimbun: A New Era of Collaboration
M&A Capital Partners, headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, has announced a strategic partnership with Ehime Shimbun, a prominent newspaper based in Matsuyama, Ehime. This partnership marks the launch of the 21st installment of the "Regional Co-Creation Project" aimed at spreading awareness about business succession and growth options across Japan. Set to start on September 29, 2025, this initiative aims to invigorate the local economy in Shikoku.
Background of the Partnership
Ehime Prefecture, blessed with a mild climate and rich marine resources, is known for its thriving agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism sectors. Dubbed the "Citrus Kingdom," Ehime is the leading producer of citrus fruits in Japan, and its aquaculture sector, particularly the production of farmed sea bream, has dominated the national market since 1990. With notable manufacturing hubs such as Shikokuchuo City, which specializes in paper and pulp, and Imabari, a key player in shipbuilding, the region boasts a robust industrial ecosystem.
However, the region faces significant challenges. A shocking 61.4% of medium-sized and small enterprises in Ehime are reportedly lacking successors, a rate that exceeds the national average. Coupled with the aging of business owners, this poses a severe risk to local businesses, which could lead to closures, job losses, and the erosion of local cultural and technical expertise.
MACP and Ehime Shimbun have previously hosted seminars and forums to heighten awareness about business continuity among local entrepreneurs. The "Shikoku Management Forum 2023 Ehime" received overwhelming participation, reflecting the strong interest of local business leaders in succession planning strategies.
Objectives of the Partnership
Through this partnership, MACP and Ehime Shimbun aim to amplify their efforts to promote various options for business succession and growth, including M&A. By leveraging MACP's extensive advisory expertise in M&A and Ehime Shimbun's respected local influence, both organizations aspire to contribute to the sustainable development of the regional economy.
Announced on October 4, 2023, the partnership specifically targets enhancing information dissemination about business succession and growth strategies within Ehime Prefecture. This will involve various initiatives, including showcasing businesses facing succession challenges and promoting sustainable growth strategies.
Upcoming Initiatives
As a kickoff for this collaboration, MACP and Ehime Shimbun will host a free online seminar on November 20, 2025, from 14:00 to 15:00. This event will focus on
