The first notable step in this journey is the upcoming launch of SHIFT HOTEL Shibuya Hatagaya, scheduled to open in January 2026. Positioned as a part of the urban rehabilitation project known as THESTEPS, this hotel represents a significant addition to the Shibuya-Hatagaya area, demonstrating how old structures can be rejuvenated for modern use.

Addressing Urban Challenges

As urban areas face the challenge of underutilized properties, converting old buildings into hotel spaces has become a pressing need. Realgate currently boasts a track record of revitalizing over 100 aging buildings in urban settings, developing spaces where work, gathering, and leisure coexist. The addition of a hotel as a function of these spaces further enhances local economies by generating new traffic and activities.

On the flip side, SQUEEZE operates around 40 hotels and apartments across Japan, leveraging operational insights to build a sustainable model that ensures success, even in smaller facilities. The aim is to create a conversion-based hotel that maintains efficiency and operational stability, allowing for the ongoing success of small-scale properties. 3. Access: A short 6-minute walk from Hatagaya Station and 15 minutes from Yoyogi-Uehara Station.
4. Design Concept: Emphasizing themes of change and flexibility, the hotel offers diverse accommodation options catering to various lifestyles and travel purposes, suitable for families and groups. Well-equipped with kitchens and laundry facilities, the hotel aims to cater to long-term stays. To enhance local engagement, guests will receive "Hatagaya Map" featuring recommended local eateries and shops, alongside an original tote bag.

The Comprehensive Facility: THESTEPS

SHIFT HOTEL Shibuya Hatagaya will serve as a satellite facility within THESTEPS, a multi-use complex set to grand-open on October 28, 2025. The main building will house share offices and shops, featuring tenants such as Sedai Coffee and hebeerryk! wineshop, with a vision to connect the streets of Hatagaya with its community.
