Celebrate Sumo and Edo Culture
On April 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the Hotel Intergate Tokyo Kyobashi will host a special event titled "Enjoy the Essence of Edo: A Sumo Cultural Evening with Special Chanko Nabe". This event commemorates the hotel's eighth anniversary and promises to immerse guests in the rich culture of sumo wrestling, complemented by a unique culinary experience.
Event Highlights
This event features a carefully crafted program that includes insights into the life of sumo wrestlers, captivating performances, and a chance to savor the flavors of specially prepared chanko nabe— a nutritious stew traditionally consumed by sumo wrestlers. It’s an exclusive opportunity to learn directly from former rikishi (sumo wrestlers) about their training routines and personal experiences within the shike (training stables).
Sumo Culture Lecture
Tickets for the event include a seat in a cultural lecture led by a former rikishi. Here, attendees will discover fascinating anecdotes about the world of sumo, bridging the gap between the audience and the athletes who represent this ancient sport.
Engaging Performances
In addition to the lecture, there will be live demonstrations showcasing the strength and agility of sumo through vigorous shiko (foot stomping) performances. Guests can also participate in an interactive 'oshi' experience, where they can feel the power behind sumo techniques.
Photo Opportunities
Attendees will have the chance to capture memories with this celebrated figure of sport during a photo session, adding a personal touch to an already unique experience.
Chanko Nabe Delights
The highlight of the evening will be the serving of Hotel Intergate Tokyo Kyobashi's exclusive chanko nabe, inspired and overseen by a former rikishi to ensure authenticity and traditional taste. This special dish will warm guests while they enjoy sumo culture up close and personal.
Additional Offerings
For guests staying at the hotel, there’s a special lounge menu that features this chanko nabe from April 1 to April 8, available during happy hour from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This exclusive menu invites guests to continue their culinary journey throughout the week.
