Hurom Enforces Patent Ruling Against NUC(Kuvings) on Amazon, Ban Implemented in the U.S.
Hurom Enforces Patent Rights Against NUC(Kuvings)
On December 2, 2024, Hurom, a leading innovator in juicer technology, proudly announced a pivotal win in its ongoing fight against patent infringement in the U.S. The company successfully enforced its patent against NUC(Kuvings), leading to a sales ban on several of Kuvings’ main juicer models on Amazon’s platform.
Hurom, which was established in 1974, has dedicated over five decades to revolutionizing juicer technology, including the launch of the first vertical screw juice extractor in 2005. This innovation not only set industry standards but also demonstrated Hurom's commitment to enhancing health and wellness through advanced juicing technologies.
Recently, Hurom has identified an increasing number of patent violations in key markets such as China, the U.S., and Europe. To safeguard its intellectual property, Hurom announced a comprehensive global patent enforcement strategy earlier this year. This strategic initiative aims to combat unauthorized use of its patented technologies that are critical to the brand's identity and success.
The recent case was adjudicated through Amazon's APEX (Amazon Patent Evaluation Express) program, specifically under APEX ID 15060613361. The assessment process began with Hurom reporting an alleged patent breach, followed by an evaluation by an independent reviewer. The investigation confirmed that NUC(Kuvings) was indeed infringing Hurom's patent rights, culminating in the removal of the infringing products from Amazon's listings. As of July 11, 2024, sales were banned on five of Kuvings’ significant models, including REVO830W, EVO820GM, C7000S, C7000W, and C7000P, all of which are sold by multiple vendors such as Kuvings USA and GlobalEcom.
Following this action, Hurom's intellectual property team has taken further steps to address the issue within the European Unified Patent Court (UPC) against manufacturers and sellers infringing on its patents. Simultaneously, the Korean Trade Commission (KTC) has launched an investigation into NUC(Kuvings) concerning allegedly unfair trade practices related to these patent violations.
Jaewon Kim, Hurom’s CEO, stated, “We can no longer overlook the unauthorized usage of Hurom's patented technology. Through decisive actions, we will protect the healthy and fair ecosystem that both Hurom and our customers value. Though our primary commitment is to enforce our patents, we remain open to granting access to legitimate users of our patented technology in support of our mutual dedication to wellness.”
In this competitive landscape, Hurom’s commitment to creating a fair and balanced global market underscores the importance of intellectual property protection. The enforcement of patents not only protects innovations but also promotes fairness in the industry, ensuring that customers receive the quality and reliability that Hurom has built its reputation upon.
As Hurom continues to navigate the challenges posed by infringement, the company remains steadfast in its mission to deliver superior juicing solutions and expand the culture of wellness across the globe.
