Centrus and Radiant Forge Strategic Partnership for U.S. HALEU Supply

Strategic Partnership Between Centrus and Radiant

In an exciting development for the nuclear energy sector, Centrus Energy Corp. has initiated a multi-year partnership with Radiant, a leading innovator in advanced microreactor technology. This collaboration highlights Centrus's commitment to expanding its supply of high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU), which is critical for the operation of Radiant's Kaleidos microreactors.

The cornerstone of this agreement is a contract that will allow Centrus to supply HALEU starting before the end of the decade. This partnership not only reinforces Centrus's position as a trusted supplier within the evolving nuclear industry but also enhances its role in the burgeoning market for microreactors. Radiant will leverage this long-term supply of HALEU to transition from initial testing phases to larger-scale commercial and national security deployments of its innovative microreactor designs.

Centrus foresees this partnership as a pivotal step towards building a robust domestic fuel supply chain essential for the next generation of nuclear technology. Amir Vexler, President and CEO of Centrus, emphasized the partnership's importance, stating, "The contract with Radiant marks another significant move to establish a domestic fuel supply chain that will support next-generation nuclear energy. With partnerships like these, we can ensure that the new technologies have consistent access to the fuel they need for commercialization."

Dr. Rita Baranwal, Chief Nuclear Officer at Radiant, echoed this sentiment, noting the innovative strategy behind securing a parallel fuel supply while developing the reactor technology. This proactive approach will help mitigate one of the most pressing barriers to advanced nuclear deployment. Radiant's microreactors are designed to deliver reliable power across a variety of applications, making them versatile solutions for energy needs in remote areas, data centers, and defense sectors.

The deal also includes prepayments from Radiant to Centrus, which will facilitate the enhancement of Centrus's domestic enrichment capabilities. This move illustrates a substantial commitment to domestic nuclear energy production and the centralization of resources necessary for supporting innovative projects like Kaleidos.
