Sesame Street Market Opens in Kansai Area

The beloved Sesame Street Market is set to expand its footprint in Japan with the launch of its third outlet at Hanshin Umeda Store in Osaka on December 3, 2025. This will be the first store in the Kansai region, following successful openings in Ikebukuro and Toyosu.

Located on the sixth floor, the Hanshin store will occupy approximately 100 tsubo and will feature more than 400 exclusive items that celebrate the delightful world of Sesame Street. Among the highlights will be a cafeteria that seats 47 guests, offering a cozy setting for meals and cafe time.

Exclusive Merchandise in Kansai

To commemorate the opening, fans can look forward to limited-edition items that reflect the spirit of Osaka. The store will offer unique costumes, pin badges, bandanas, and stickers inspired by local themes such as tiger patterns, happi coats, and takoyaki. Highlights from the exclusive merchandise include:

• - Tiger Costume: Priced at ¥3,190, this adorable cape-style outfit features a vivid yellow and black tiger pattern with ‘OSAKA’ emblazoned across it. Perfect for S-size plush toys, it brings a playful twist to classic character apparel.

• - Happi Coat Costume: Also priced at ¥3,190, this outfit showcases a traditional checkered design and features the store’s logo on the front. The coat is reversible, offering two color options, red and blue, allowing for versatile styling. It even comes with a rubber accessory that resembles a takoyaki ball, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

• - Bandanas: Available in black and yellow for ¥1,320, these versatile accessories come adorned with designs of Elmo and Cookie Monster dressed in tiger costumes alongside iconic Osaka symbols.

Special Opening Day Events

On opening day, attendees will receive a limited-edition balloon as a souvenir (while supplies last). The store will feature an advanced launch of the American Mini Waffles (¥980), a new takeout-only item. These bite-sized versions are a delightful twist on the popular waffles from the Toyosu store, now available in mini size, making them easy to enjoy on the go.

Additionally, visitors can indulge in the new character lattes (¥650) featuring a special design celebrating the opening, complete with illustrations of Elmo and Cookie Monster in vibrant tiger costumes.
