Jungbunzlauer Strengthens Its foothold in the U.S. Market
Jungbunzlauer, a globally recognized leader in high-quality natural ingredients, announced today that it has successfully completed the acquisition of a production facility located in Thomson, Illinois. This strategic move is pivotal as it marks Jungbunzlauer's first manufacturing site in the United States, enhancing its ability to cater to North American customers more effectively and expediently.
The acquisition of this Illinois plant, previously owned by International Flavors & Fragrances, Inc. (IFF), aligns with Jungbunzlauer's commitment to serving its clients in the region. The facility is set to undergo modifications to support Jungbunzlauer’s portfolio of natural ingredients, with preparations and equipment installations already underway to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Recognized primarily for its high-quality citric acid, Jungbunzlauer produces a variety of products including mineral salts, texturizers, and acidulants. In conjunction with its recent expansion of the gummie production line in Canada, this acquisition positions the company to meet the increasing demand for natural ingredients across North America.
Bruno Tremblay, CEO of Jungbunzlauer, emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating, "This acquisition represents a substantial step forward in Jungbunzlauer's growth trajectory. We are proud to establish our first manufacturing facility in the United States here in Thomson, Illinois, where we aim to provide sustainable and reliable solutions to our clients. Our focus will be on advanced manufacturing investments, generating long-term value for the region and all stakeholders involved."
In addition to its production capabilities, Jungbunzlauer is committed to being an active partner in the Thomson community. The company aims to create job opportunities, support local suppliers, and contribute to the regional economic growth. This dedication to efficient operations and responsible sourcing underscores Jungbunzlauer's commitment to the needs of its customers while supporting the community.
Local officials have welcomed Jungbunzlauer's efforts, underscoring the company’s reputation for responsible and quality manufacturing as an ideal match for Illinois' business landscape. David Schmit, the regional director of Economic Development for Northwest Illinois, remarked, "We are proud to welcome Jungbunzlauer to Thomson, and we are excited about the growth that their presence will bring, creating new quality opportunities for our workforce and suppliers."
The asset transaction does not include any commercial activities, product lines, or employees of IFF. However, Tremblay concluded, "We look forward to providing further information, including operational plans, future hiring, and community engagement initiatives as we prepare the plant for production."
