Midea Building Technologies Unveils Next-Generation Sustainable Solutions at MCE 2026

Midea's Sustainable Innovations at MCE 2026

Midea Building Technologies (MBT) made a significant impact at the MCE 2026, presenting a trio of innovative solutions that underscore its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. The highlight of their presentation included the new V9-VRF system, an R290 heat pump portfolio, and advanced cooling solutions tailored for data centers.

V9-VRF System Overview

The newly launched V9-VRF system integrates key technological advancements, featuring the ShieldBox II electric control box and the environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant. The ShieldBox II is housed in a high-quality automotive-grade aluminum casing, which reduces volume by an impressive 70%. This design enhancement allows for a more spacious heat exchanger, thereby improving the efficiency of the outdoor unit. Moreover, the system's three-zone design is safeguarded with an IP68 rating, ensuring reliable operation in various environments. The advanced phase change cooling technology maintains a refrigerant temperature of 30 °C, significantly extending the lifespan of the components under harsh conditions.

Additionally, the V9 system has successfully passed the TÜV three-tier safety assessment for VRF systems using flammable refrigerants, securing its position as a leading option in terms of safety standards internationally.

R290 Heat Pump Portfolio

MBT also showcased its R290 heat pump portfolio, featuring capacities ranging from 4 kW to 70 kW, catering to residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Notably, the Mars Large R290 all-weather heat pump, which won the MCE Excellence Award, boasts a high output temperature of up to 85 °C using the eco-friendly R290 refrigerant. An all-DC inverter system combined with dual compressor redundancy ensures dependable performance, while its compact footprint of merely 0.72 square meters and A+++ energy efficiency rating allow it to maintain 100% of its heating capacity at -10 °C and 65% at -20 °C. The Arctic series heat pumps, alongside the Mars R290 ATW, complete a comprehensive lineup promoting a shift towards natural refrigerant-based heating systems.

Cutting-edge Cooling Solutions for Data Centers

To meet the cooling needs of modern data centers, MBT introduced liquid cooling solutions through an interactive diorama. The showcased system integrates precision cooling distribution units (CDUs), fan walls, and centrifugal chillers outfitted with magnetic bearings, achieving an annual Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of just 1.2. Key products highlight the air-cooled magnetic bearing centrifugal chiller, AirBoost Vera, and the CDU. The AirBoost Vera features dual power switching and customizable Total Harmonic Distortion Input (THDi) to ensure reliable power supply while offering exceptional efficiency at an output water temperature of up to 36 °C with a temperature differential of 20 °C. Standard indirect natural cooling and compatibility with eco-friendly refrigerants position this system as a sustainable choice for today’s data centers.

The CDU is designed with multiple redundancies, leak-proofing capabilities, and fully tested core components, ensuring long-term reliability.

MBT is at the forefront of providing integrated solutions that adapt to the evolving demands of Europe’s energy transition. With a continuous dedication to innovation and sustainability, Midea Building Technologies is committed to shaping a smarter, low-carbon future for the HVAC industry.
