University of Phoenix Achieves Renowned Success with Six ADDY® Awards

On March 13, 2026, the University of Phoenix celebrated a significant milestone, receiving six American Advertising Awards, commonly known as ADDY® Awards, from the Phoenix Chapter of the American Advertising Federation. Among these accolades, three were Gold ADDY® Awards, showcasing the institution's prowess in creative advertising across various mediums, including video, digital platforms, and documentary storytelling.

The prestigious ADDY® Awards are regarded as the pinnacle of achievement in the advertising industry, recognizing the best in creative excellence, execution, and overall craftsmanship. This year's awards were a testament to the hard work and vision of the teams at the University of Phoenix, which were able to transform strategic insights into captivating advertising content that not only attracts attention but also motivates potential students to engage and enroll.

Chad Garnes, senior creative director at the University, remarked, "Earning six ADDY Awards speaks to the depth of talent across our teams, from strategic insight to creative concepting and final production." The University thrives on its in-house agency model, allowing for seamless integration of strategy and execution that fosters innovative work directly tied to human insights.

The winning entries this year featured a diverse array of advertising formats. Noteworthy among them was a reimagined television campaign inspired by the classic fable of the tortoise and the hare. The campaign not only entertained but also delivered essential educational messages around time and money management tailored for students. Another innovative initiative included the introduction of a new mobile app designed to assist students with transferring credits. This app allows users who have previously attended community colleges or universities to upload their transcripts and receive a complimentary preliminary assessment of their transfer credits.

Among the most inspiring was a mini-documentary featuring the University of Phoenix alumnus, Brian Dickinson, who conquered Mount Everest despite suffering from snow blindness. This compelling story examined themes of perseverance and the human spirit's boundless capacity to overcome challenges. David Kniess, the senior multimedia video manager, expressed pride in this project, emphasizing how such authentic storytelling underscores the determination needed to push beyond one's limits and achieve great things.

This mini-documentary not only encapsulated Dickinson's incredible journey but also marked the beginning of the University’s new 'Stories of Success' series, which aims to showcase the remarkable accomplishments of its alumni. The series is an extension of the University's successful Degrees of Success alumni podcast, bringing inspiring narratives to the forefront. Dickinson stated, "I was honored to be part of the documentary and to see our work recognized with a Gold ADDY Award. Authentic storytelling breathes life into important experiences that resonate deeply."

The recognition this year also included several Silver and Bronze ADDY® Awards for additional projects, further establishing the University of Phoenix's commitment to innovative advertising and excellence in education. The awards included:
