Key Leadership Changes and Awards Highlight AIRA's Annual Meeting in Nashville

AIRA Annual Meeting Summary

On June 4, 2026, the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA) hosted its annual meeting and conference in vibrant Nashville, Tennessee. This event served as a pivotal moment for the organization, spotlighting significant leadership transitions and honoring noteworthy contributions within the community.

Leadership Changes

The transitions in leadership were particularly meaningful as Boris Steffen, CIRA, CDBV of Province, LLC in Miramar, Florida, took on the role of president, succeeding Eric A.W. Danner, CIRA from CohnReznick, LLP in Boston, Massachusetts. Danner, who has served with distinction, will now serve as the chairperson, taking over from Denise Lorenzo, CIRA of AlixPartners, LLP, New York. Lorenzo will maintain her involvement with AIRA as a board member, continuing her legacy of excellence within the organization.

R. Scott Williams, Esq. of RumbergerKirk in Birmingham, Alabama, was appointed as the new president-elect, while Robert Swartz, CIRA of PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Boston and Kenneth J. Enos, Esq. of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP, Wilmington, Delaware, continue their essential roles as treasurer and secretary, respectively. These transitions embody AIRA's commitment to cultivating leadership that can navigate the ever-evolving landscape of restructuring and insolvency.

Honoring Exceptional Contributions

AIRA also took the opportunity to present the prestigious Emanuel M. Katten Founders Award, named in honor of one of the organization's founding members, who played a crucial role in establishing the CIRA certification program and furthering AIRA's mission. The award recognizes individuals who have significantly impacted the restructuring profession through outstanding service.

This year, the esteemed recipient was Dr. Jack F. Williams, CIRA, CDBV, a Professor of Law at Georgia State University and a prominent figure at the Center for Middle East Studies. His recognition underscores the importance of academic contributions to the field and AIRA's appreciation of those who push the boundaries of expertise.

AIRA's Mission and Future Directions

The Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors continues to be a vital nonprofit organization, dedicated to supporting a diverse range of professionals including financial advisors, accountants, crisis managers, and attorneys. AIRA's mission is twofold: to unite and support professionals in the fields of business turnaround, restructuring, and bankruptcy while also developing and promoting professional standards and certifications such as the CIRA and CDBV programs.

As the annual conference wrapped up, attendees expressed enthusiasm about the future of the organization and the direction it is heading. With engaged leadership and a steadfast commitment to professional excellence, AIRA is poised to continue making substantial contributions to the restructuring and insolvency community.
