DTA Foundation Promotes National Brush Day to Boost Children's Oral Health Awareness

National Brush Day 2025

As the spooky season comes to an end with Halloween, the Dental Trade Alliance (DTA) Foundation prepares for a brighter future for children's dental health with the celebration of National Brush Day on November 1st. This unique day aims to promote good oral hygiene habits among children while encouraging parents to engage in their little ones’ brushing routines.

National Brush Day falls right after Halloween, making it a perfect opportunity to turn the tide against sweet-induced tooth decay. The DTA Foundation supports a vital message: children should brush for at least two minutes, twice a day. This routine not only helps combat cavities but sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy habits.

This year, the #NBDDentSquad initiative takes center stage in the awareness campaign dedicated to children’s oral health. The DentSquad consists of imaginative heroes, including Captain Paste, Doctor Brush, Floss Fury, and The Cool Rinse. Each character has unique superpowers designed to combat plaque and promote healthy smiles. They aim to make oral care not only effective but also fun for kids and families alike.

Families are invited to participate and share their experiences. By posting photos of completed DentSquad coloring sheets or engaging in DentSquad activities on social media and tagging #NBDDentSquad or visiting nationalbrushday.com, they can enter a contest for a chance to win one of five $100 Amazon gift cards. This initiative not only encourages children to embrace good brushing habits but also fosters a sense of community among families.

In their effort to spread this important message, the DTA Foundation has prepared a variety of free downloadable resources. These materials can help create awareness and spread engaging information regarding National Brush Day. Available resources include:
  • - Social media graphics and captions to promote the event online.
  • - Downloadable coloring and activity sheets featuring the DentSquad heroes.
  • - Email templates that dental practices can use to encourage their patients.
  • - Posters and logos that can be displayed in offices or shops to foster excitement.

Liz Meyers, Chair of the DTA Foundation, expressed the significance of this initiative, stating, "National Brush Day is an incredible opportunity to bring families together around fun, healthy habits. We’re thrilled to see kids and parents across the country join the DentSquad, celebrate their smiles, and make brushing twice a day a common practice."

The commitment to healthy oral hygiene continues long after National Brush Day ends. The DTA Foundation plays a crucial role in working towards ensuring access to dental care, empowering individuals with knowledge, and promoting the importance of maintaining good oral health. They achieve this through strategic partnerships, educational initiatives, and community outreach.

As November 1st arrives, remember that every brushing session counts! Join the movement by celebrating National Brush Day with your family.
