FIS Solutions Takes on Key Initiative in Tottori Prefecture
FIS Solutions, a subsidiary of FORVAL, recently secured a significant contract with Tottori Prefecture aimed at improving local business management through the "Business Strengthening Management Diagnosis Promotion Project." This initiative reflects FORVAL’s commitment to creating a new world based on the ideology of "Creating a New Normal" and reinforcing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.
Context and Purpose
In recent years, Japan has witnessed continuous increases in minimum wage alongside the government's structural wage hike policies. However, disparities in the implementation rates and levels of wage increases between large corporations and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) have emerged, creating a pressing issue. As the working-age population declines and job availability remains high, wage raises are transitioning from a choice to a necessity for SMEs. This is especially true in rural areas where demographic challenges, including population decline and youth migration to urban centers, hinder the sustainable growth of businesses.
Tottori Prefecture exemplifies these challenges, housing the smallest number of people and businesses in Japan, with many enterprises struggling to provide wage increases. FIS Solutions identifies the root causes of this issue as a lack of awareness and understanding of current business conditions, stemming from inadequate financial analysis, a lack of structured business plans, and an unclear understanding of the break-even point. To address this pressing challenge, FIS Solutions aims to enhance management capabilities, empowering businesses to recognize their fiscal health and develop actionable strategies for improvement.
By implementing a management strengthening diagnosis that highlights both the qualitative and quantitative impacts of wage increases on business, FIS Solutions intends to support the essential improvement of management capabilities among Tottori businesses. Additionally, this project will reframe subsidies as a program designed to enhance management capacity rather than merely providing financial assistance, thereby contributing to sustainable wage increases and productivity improvements in Tottori.
Project Objectives and Overview
To effectively and efficiently implement this initiative, FIS Solutions has established the following four basic policies:
1.
Integration of Quantitative and Qualitative Diagnostics: By merging financial data with insights from business owners through interviews, a comprehensive evaluation of management will be achieved.
2.
Proactive Engagement with Businesses of All Sizes: Actively encouraging participation in the subsidy program and the overall initiative to ensure inclusivity.
3.
Efficient Digitization and Provision of Diverse Assessment Opportunities: Ensuring that even enterprises inexperienced in digital solutions are not excluded from assessment opportunities.
4.
Analysis to Aid Policy Formulation and Strengthen Regional Management: Going beyond individual company support to enhance overall management capacity across Tottori.
