Seniors Helping Seniors® Expands in Arlington, Virginia
Seniors Helping Seniors® has recently expanded its reach by launching a new franchise location in Arlington, Virginia, as part of its commitment to provide in-home care services tailored to seniors. With over 200 franchise partners and 400 territories across the nation, the organization has seen significant growth, emphasizing the importance of creating meaningful connections between caregivers and clients.
The Arlington franchise is owned by Dan and Sarah Santoro, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in the U.S. Air Force. Having served a combined 45 years, their military careers have equipped them with valuable skills that they now apply to their new venture. Their journey began at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where they honed their leadership abilities before becoming command pilots, flying C-130 aircraft and holding various key positions within the Pentagon and Department of Defense.
The Santoros moved to Arlington in 2013, marking their first assignment at the Pentagon, and have become deeply ingrained in their community. They have two children who attend Arlington Public Schools, further amplifying their commitment to the area. Their motivation to open a Seniors Helping Seniors® franchise stems from personal experiences with aging family members, including Dan's grandfather, who battled Alzheimer's, and Sarah's grandparents, who required various levels of assisted living care. These situations underscored for them the critical need for compassionate, reliable support for seniors.
"After 45 years of combined service to our nation, we see this as an opportunity to continue giving back, now by supporting seniors and their families right here in our community," Dan shared. Sarah added, "We love the concept of seniors helping each other. It creates a win-win situation where caregivers contribute to the community, while those in need receive care from someone who truly relates to their life stage."
The demand for in-home care services is on the rise, with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services projecting that nearly 70% of retirees will require some form of long-term care. As a response to this growing need, Seniors Helping Seniors® stands out by focusing on the hiring of senior caregivers, fostering employment opportunities for older adults while promoting meaningful relationships between caregivers and clients.
Namrata Yocom-Jan, President of Seniors Helping Seniors®, expressed confidence in the Santoros as partners, stating, "We have become leaders in this industry by prioritizing the best possible care for our seniors. This means partnering with passionate and dedicated franchise owners like Dan and Sarah, who are well-prepared to deliver exceptional in-home services."
The Santoros' new franchise marks the sixth location for Seniors Helping Seniors® in Virginia, showcasing the organization's innovative approach to caregiver-client matching and its dedication to serving communities in Arlington, McLean, and East Great Falls.
The journey of Seniors Helping Seniors® began in 1998, founded by Kiran and Philip Yocom. Kiran, who played a significant role in humanitarian work alongside Mother Teresa before moving to the U.S., and Philip shared a vision of providing loving care to seniors while facilitating a mutual exchange of gifts between generations. The brand became a franchise in 2006 and has since expanded to 400 territories nationwide, establishing a reputation for aligning caregivers with clients based on their respective abilities and needs.
