Shinjuku Neon Walk Launches Extraordinary Year-End Events Featuring Iconic Art

Shinjuku Neon Walk Presents Unique Year-End Festivities

The Tokyo Nighttime Appeal Committee has introduced the Shinjuku Neon Walk, where tradition meets innovation in the vibrant city of Tokyo. This winter season, two special projects bringing timeless art into the limelight are set to captivate visitors from December 24 until January 4.

The iconic public art installation, the Shinjuku Eye, will glow brightly for the holidays. This approximately 55-year-old masterpiece created by sculptor Yoshiko Miyashita stands at a height of 3.4 meters and stretches 10 meters across. It features embedded lighting that once made the eye's pupil rotate, adding to its mystical allure. On December 31, as part of the countdown event Happy New Year Tokyo 2026, this beloved artwork will be showcased in projection mapping by renowned artist Miika Ninagawa and EiM, enhancing the dazzling experience.
