Cat Financial Achieves Impressive Growth in Second Quarter of 2026

Cat Financial Reports Robust Second-Quarter Results for 2026

Cat Financial, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., recently disclosed its financial performance for the second quarter of 2026, showcasing an impressive increase in revenues and earnings compared to the previous year.

According to the report released on August 4, 2026, the company achieved revenues of $991 million, marking a significant rise of $92 million or 10% over the $899 million earned in the same quarter of 2025. This growth is primarily attributable to the favorable influence of higher average earning assets. Moreover, profits for the second quarter of this year reached $145 million, an increase of $8 million or 6% compared to the $137 million recorded in the second quarter of the prior year.

The figures demonstrate a positive trend in profit before income taxes, with a reported amount of $206 million—a 13% rise from $183 million the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by higher average earning assets contributing about $44 million, albeit slightly offset by an increase in the provision for credit losses, which escalated by $22 million.

An essential adjustment was noted in the taxation aspect, with the estimated annual tax rate rising from 25% in 2025 to 28% in 2026. This change can be linked to shifts in the geographic distribution of profits.

During this same quarter, the new retail business volume also reflected a healthy surge, amounting to $3.92 billion—a 9% increase, up from $3.60 billion in the second quarter of 2025. This growth was consistent across all segments, indicating robust market demand.

Another critical metric, the rate of past due accounts, depicted a reduction to 1.31%, down from 1.62% in the previous year, suggesting improved credit management. Although write-offs net of recoveries stood at $20 million for the quarter, slightly exceeding the $18 million of the same period last year, the overall allowance for credit losses was maintained at $294 million, which constitutes 0.84% of finance receivables.

Dave Walton, the President of Cat Financial, expressed satisfaction with the quarter's performance, stating, _“Cat Financial delivered another solid quarter, with continued strong retail new business volume and strong portfolio performance.”_ He emphasized the commitment of the Cat Financial team to execute effective strategies aimed at providing superior financial solutions tailored for Caterpillar customers and dealers.
