Rediscovering Theater: Toshiya Ohno's 'Ganondorf on the Battlefield'
In an exciting return to his theatrical roots, esteemed screenwriter Toshiya Ohno, known for his work on the 'Small Citizen Series' and the film 'The Long Farewell,' is set to unveil his latest play,
'Ganondorf on the Battlefield,' from August 19 to August 24, 2025. Organized by SORIFA, led by actress Myonha, this production marks a significant occasion, two years since their last performance.
Ohno's decision to return to the stage for the first time in 16 years reflects a deep commitment to his craft. This new piece is described as a culmination of his thoughts and artistic expressions, written with the intention that it could potentially be his final work.
The story is anchored in a compelling premise: six middle-aged men, summoned under the vague pretext of a town meeting, find themselves trapped in a gathering place. An AI voice unveils a dire situation, stating, "Your loved ones are now in a dangerous situation. You must address this matter immediately." Outside, chaos reigns as people transform into monstrous forms. Yet, the men, defaulting to denial, question the existence of such threats and the identities of their beloved ones. Surrounded by confusion and a lack of understanding among peers, they do not expect to emerge as 'Last Friends' in their shared struggle.
