Creating a Sustainable Future at the 24th National Disabled Sports Festival in Shiga

A Shared Commitment to Sustainability at the 24th National Disabled Sports Festival

From October 25 to 27, 2025, Shiga Prefecture will host the 24th National Disabled Sports Festival. This event aims to promote inclusivity while fostering awareness about sustainability and environmental responsibility. In line with this commitment, Ajinomoto AGF, under the leadership of its President, Kenji Shimamoto, will collaborate with Heiwado, headed by CEO Masatsugu Hiramatsu, to set up an innovative booth titled "Let's Start Plastic Challenge with Your Own Bottle! Water Stand."

This booth will align with Shiga Prefecture's ongoing efforts to reduce plastic waste through the "Shiga Plastic Challenge Project," which encourages the use of plastic alternatives and the practice of bringing personal water bottles. This initiative reflects a significant lifestyle change aimed at combating plastic pollution and promoting reusable products.

Heiwado actively supports waste reduction and resource recycling, making it an ideal partner for this initiative. By participating in the project, Heiwado has taken measures such as distributing eco-friendly cutlery and re-evaluating the use of food trays, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability.

Ajinomoto AGF has also taken significant steps in this direction, having reduced its plastic usage by approximately 88%. They offer a convenient, eco-friendly stick-type drink series called "Blendy® My Bottle Stick," which easily dissolves in water, encouraging attendees to adopt reusable practices. The booth will allow visitors to experience practical ways to reduce plastic dependency while enjoying refreshing drinks.
