SUUNTO Unveils Next-Generation Dive Computers Suunto Nautic and Nautic S

SUUNTO Japan LLC, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, has officially introduced its latest line of dive computers: the Suunto Nautic and Suunto Nautic S. These two products mark a significant advancement in SUUNTO's diving technology, seamlessly blending robustness and contemporary innovation to meet the diverse needs of divers at all levels.

Both models are designed to cater to the evolving requirements of recreational and technical divers, heralding a new series that continues SUUNTO's legacy of underwater exploration. With a commitment to durable design and modern practicality, these reliable tools are crafted to assist divers in navigating aquatic adventures. Notably, both products are designed and manufactured in Finland.

The name Nautic is derived from the Latin word `nauticus`, meaning 'pertaining to ships and sailors', paying homage to SUUNTO's rich heritage in navigation technology. Just as SUUNTO's first precision compass safely guided explorers in 1936 into uncharted waters, the Nautic series aims to lead divers in reliable directions where precision and situational awareness become paramount beneath the waves.

A New Era in Diving Technology

René Bergander, SUUNTO's Diving Category and Product Manager, stated, “The Nautic series symbolizes the fusion of SUUNTO's proven reliability and modern features designed for today's diving adventures. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in SUUNTO's long-standing story of underwater exploration.”

Features of Suunto Nautic

The Suunto Nautic dive computer is packed with full functionality, specially crafted for dedicated divers seeking clarity, durability, and versatility. This innovative device showcases one of the largest AMOLED displays in the market, measuring 3.26 inches, with a resolution of 720x382 pixels and an adaptive user interface, allowing critical diving data to be clearly visible under all diving conditions.

Impressive Battery Life

Despite its size and brightness, the Nautic sustains remarkable battery performance, lasting up to 120 hours with moderate brightness, 90 hours for night dives, and up to 80 hours at maximum brightness. Regular use (approximately one dive per week) can stretch the battery's life to a maximum of nine months on a single charge.

Advanced Technical Diving Features

The Nautic dive computer supports single and multi-gas diving, custom alarms, a compass, and wireless tank pressure compatibility. It also includes advanced features for technical diving, such as trimix support, GF99 and SurfGF indicators, and decompression planning tools. Future software updates will introduce compatibility with closed-circuit rebreathers (CCR). It also supports dual tank pressure display and switch alerts for side-mount diving.

Outdoor Utility

Besides underwater capabilities, Nautic incorporates outdoor tools like GPS, maps, tide information, weather forecasts, and sunrise/sunset times, aiding in diving planning and preparations. The diving algorithm is based on Bühmann 16, providing various setting options.

Practicality and Compatibility

Included is an LED flashlight useful in low-light situations and compatibility with SUUNTO heart rate belts and Tank PODs. Users can opt between an easily adjustable and comfortable bungee strap or a textile strap.

Features of Suunto Nautic S

On the other hand, the Suunto Nautic S caters specifically to scuba and freedivers with a more compact wrist-sized design that mirrors the excellent features of its counterpart.

Compact Design

Maintaining the AMOLED display technology and intuitive interface, it adopts a lighter and more compact design for divers who prefer smaller devices.

Specialized Diving Functionality

Without the additional features of smartwatch capabilities like optical heart rate tracking, the Nautic S focuses solely on underwater functionalities, serving as a single-purpose dive computer.

Multifunctional Features

The Nautic S also supports wireless tank pressure, audio/vibration alarms, dive planning, a compass, and side-mount support, covering core functions for both recreational and technical diving. Additionally, it offers specific functions catered to freediving, snorkeling, and mermaiding activities.

Durability and Compatibility

Water-resistant up to 100 meters and certified for dives up to 80 meters, the Nautic S allows for continuous dive durations of up to 60 hours. The device finishes in a graphite gray color and comes equipped with a flexible textile strap. It also ensures compatibility with existing Tank PODs, heart rate belts, and various outdoor straps with a 22mm fitting.

Enhancing the Diving Experience with the Suunto App

The Suunto App plays a crucial role in extending the functionalities of both Nautic models. Divers can log their dives by viewing their dive routes and distances, add details about equipment used, visibility conditions, and sightings, all while sharing experiences with dive buddies. The app organizes all dive logs, serving as a comprehensive digital logbook.

Launch Timing and Pricing

The pre-release price for the Suunto Nautic is 124,850 yen (tax included), while the Suunto Nautic S is priced at 114,950 yen (tax included), both expected to hit the market in early 2026.

About SUUNTO

Founded in 1936 by Finnish inventor Tuomas Vohroin, SUUNTO has established a new standard for precision navigation with its field compass. This waterproof tool was considerably more stable and accurate than any previous handheld navigation device. Born from the need to endure Finland's harsh natural environments, it was the first of a long line of innovative products. Nearly a century later, Tuomas's spirit of innovation continues to drive SUUNTO's evolution, from historical dive computers and high-altitude altimeter wristwatches to modern GPS watches. SUUNTO remains a trusted companion for outdoor enthusiasts worldwide, with a mission to support explorers, athletes, and weekend adventurers with tools to delve deep, climb high, and challenge human limits.
