Countdown to FITUR 2025
As the premier global gathering for the tourism industry, the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), organized by
IFEMA MADRID, is gearing up for its 45th edition, set to take place from
January 22 to 26, 2025. This event is anticipated to be a key player in showcasing the impressive recovery of the tourism sector post-pandemic and its promising prospects for the future.
Commitment to Growth and Sustainability
This year’s edition is expected to attract over
9,500 companies from
156 countries, with
884 main exhibitors set to display their offerings across nine halls. The commitment to the tourism sector's revitalization is evident, and significant figures indicate an influx of more than
150,000 professionals across the event and an expected
100,000 general visitors during the weekend, yielding an estimated
€445 million economic impact for Madrid. This influx will positively influence industries such as transportation, accommodation, gastronomy, culture, and entertainment.
FITUR is not only the first major international tourism fair of the year but also reaffirms its leadership position as an essential platform for public and private sector stakeholders involved in tourism. The 2025 edition reflects a
10% increase in participation, coupled with a
19% rise in international representation. Notably,
101 official country representatives, including five new additions, will highlight the global emphasis of this year’s event.
Brazil Takes Center Stage
One of the significant highlights of FITUR 2025 is Brazil's designation as the
Partner Country. This recognition allows Brazil to display its rich cultural offerings and diverse tourism options, with statistics from Brazil's Ministry of Tourism indicating a record year in 2024, where
6.65 million international visitors marked a
12.6% increase compared to the previous year. By strengthening its global positioning, Brazil aims to attract more travelers through this vital platform.
Thematic Sections and Innovation
This year, FITUR has revamped its
ten thematic sections, prioritizing sustainability and innovation. New segments have been developed to connect various sectors of the tourism industry for fostering new traveler niches.
FITUR Cruises, created with CRUCEROADICTO, will emphasize the cruise industry's commitment to sustainable practices. Additionally,
FITUR LGTB+ will work towards promoting inclusivity and diversity, while initiatives such as
FITUR Techy will delve into how artificial intelligence is transforming travel management.
The fair also aims to address social issues through
FITUR Talent, focusing on challenges in workforce skills, and
FITUR Woman, which highlights women’s leadership in tourism. Another noteworthy initiative is the
Sustainability Observatory, FITURNEXT, which will explore tourism's role in sustainable food management.
Overall, the transformations at FITUR showcase a dynamic approach toward integrating sustainable practices across all aspects of tourism. With a new focus on themes such as accessibility, innovation, and collaboration, FITUR 2025 marks a turning point for the tourism sector as it embraces a future driven by connectivity and responsibility.
