Kanda University of International Studies Elects New President, Professor Shingo Ashizawa

Kanda University of International Studies has announced a significant transition in leadership with the selection of Professor Shingo Ashizawa as the new president, succeeding Takahisa Miyauchi, who has been at the helm since 2018. Professor Ashizawa's term will commence on April 1, 2026, and is expected to span four years, concluding on March 31, 2030.

Professor Shingo Ashizawa, aged 68, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position. He completed his undergraduate studies in economics at Musashi University in 1980 and later obtained a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University in June 1996. His academic focus is on comparative education, international education exchanges, and researching the certification of foreign academic qualifications and micro-credentials.

Career Journey


Professor Ashizawa's career has been marked by a series of significant academic roles. He began his journey in 1997 as the deputy director of academic affairs at Keio University's Shonan Fujisawa Campus. Following this, he served as a lecturer in the Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University in 2001. In 2006, he took on the role of administrative director at Keio Academy of New York, and subsequently, he became a special professor at the International Collaboration Organization at Meiji University in 2010.

In 2013, Professor Ashizawa transitioned to Toyo University as a professor in the Faculty of International Region Studies. Most recently, in 2022, he joined Kansai University of International Studies, where he served as a professor and vice president in the Faculty of International Communication. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to educational innovation and international collaboration.
