Collaboration Between Educational Institutions and Corporations
In a groundbreaking initiative, Japan Women's University (JWU) and Dassault Systèmes have successfully launched their first global internship program, taking place from August 3rd to August 7th. This notable partnership aimed to provide students with firsthand experience in a global corporate environment, showcasing the importance of digital transformation across various industries.
Internship Experience
During the five-day program, eight selected students from JWU participated in a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing their understanding of marketing and event management. They were deeply engaged in project planning and presented their findings, contributing to their practical learning experience. The unique structure of the program included collaborative work with international team members, allowing students to participate in meetings conducted in both Japanese and English. This approach gave them a tangible understanding of what it's like to work in a multinational company.
This initiative was made possible largely due to the efforts of Kuniko Milhouse, an executive officer and human resources head at Dassault Systèmes, who is an alumnus of the university’s Faculty of Literature.
Innovative Program Structure
The internship culminated in a robust final project that required participants to design a promotional panel for a VR immersive consulting service named “TELEPORT 1/1.” This service was intended to be displayed at an urban development event in Kyoto. Over the course of the program, the students systematically built a foundation in marketing and event management, from defining the objectives of their booth to creating content tailored for the exhibition. They not only honed their technical skills but also gained insights into the operations of a diverse workplace.
The final presentation showcased innovative ideas for sustainable urban development, solutions to the issue of overtourism, and new architectural services integrating virtual technology. Feedback from marketing professionals at the event was greatly appreciated by students, enhancing their learning experience.
Insights from Dassault Systèmes
In a statement, Kuniko Milhouse emphasized the rapidly evolving corporate environment influenced by advancements in technology like AI and globalization. She noted that in today’s workforce, it is crucial for students not only to acquire knowledge but also to engage in collaborative efforts with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The internship served as a platform for JWU and Dassault Systèmes to foster a shared learning experience that benefits both institutions while preparing the next generation of professionals.
Student Testimonials

- - 3rd-Year English Literature Major: "Meeting with accomplished women employees was inspiring, and I found myself thinking, ‘I want to be like them in the future.’ The interaction during lunch was particularly enjoyable!"
- - Another 3rd-Year English Literature Major: "Despite having no background in marketing, I felt at ease knowing I would receive thorough guidance. I was amazed to see the cafeteria buzzing with conversations in languages like French among Japanese and international staff—it felt so vibrant!"
