Nova Ukraine Achieves Platinum Seal of Transparency

Nova Ukraine, a prominent nonprofit founded by Ukrainian Americans in 2014, has reached a significant milestone by earning the coveted Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid. This prestigious recognition is the highest honor available from the leading U.S. nonprofit database. The award acknowledges organizations that not only meet but exceed standard disclosure requirements by being open about their mission, financial details, governance practices, strategic objectives, and tangible impacts on their communities.

Sergey Kishchenko, the director of Nova Ukraine, expressed pride in receiving this honor, stating, "This recognition reflects our deep commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical stewardship in every aspect of our work." Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, Nova Ukraine has raised over $160 million to support those affected, providing crucial aid and services to over 11 million people. Their efforts focus on four main programs: Heal, Build, Empower, and Advocate.

From the onset of the crisis, the organization has adapted rapidly to the evolving needs of Ukraine. Their initiatives include delivering essential medical supplies, restoring vital infrastructure, and aiding the most vulnerable communities impacted by the conflict. "Half of our budget goes to medical support," explained Oksana Gologorska, vice president of Medical Projects at Nova Ukraine. "This includes everything from life-saving emergency first aid kits to a revolutionary pain rehabilitation project developed in partnership with Ukraine's Ministry of Health. In total, we've provided support to over 600 medical institutions, directly helping thousands of patients and saving countless lives."

Nova Ukraine's emergency response initiative, known as Nova Stash, mobilizes approximately 20 local volunteer teams within hours of missile strikes, working closely with Ukraine's State Emergency Services. These teams deliver generators, food, blankets, and hygiene kits to recently attacked areas and frontline communities, ensuring that assistance reaches those most in need without delay.

In addition to immediate relief efforts, Nova Ukraine is dedicated to rebuilding war-damaged infrastructures such as schools and hospitals, while also constructing mobile bomb shelters for safety. The organization has launched Invincibility Centers in 50 major railway stations across Ukraine, offering warmth, food, and Internet access to those affected by ongoing energy disruptions.

Moreover, their empowerment programs focus on helping veterans reintegrate into society, supporting small business recovery, and addressing children's mental health and educational needs. The organization operates on the principle that, "Education cannot wait," and has developed initiatives that support vulnerable students, improve teacher qualifications in STEM and English, and provide professional training for school principals and local stakeholders.

As a testament to its outreach success, since May 2023, over 1 million children have visited the ZMISTOVNO centers established by Nova Ukraine. These centers provide daily access to educational resources, allowing children to catch up on their schoolwork, gain new knowledge and skills, and foster creativity amidst challenging circumstances.

Transparency has been pivotal in fostering trust among donors, foundations, and partners, as every contributor can see their support leading to meaningful, sustainable changes in the lives of those affected. Furthermore, Nova Ukraine holds a prestigious 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, solidifying its reputation for accountability and transparency.

Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Nova Ukraine is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on providing humanitarian assistance and raising awareness about Ukraine both in the United States and globally. Since its inception, Nova Ukraine has committed itself to help Ukrainians in their fight for liberty by delivering essential aid, promoting self-sufficiency, and advocating for international solidarity.
