Celebrating 10 Years of Astenot with Craft Beer Labels in Chiba

A Celebration of Craft Beer and Community

In a remarkable twist, the advertising agency Astenot, celebrated its 10th anniversary with a unique project: custom beer labels for three craft beers from the Komainu Brewery in Chiba, Kashiwa. This festive collaboration, created in honor of its decade-long journey, showcases the artistry of local illustrator Kuuhara Kuu, reflecting Astenot's ethos and gratitude toward the local community.

The Birth of Astenot

Founded with the vision of highlighting potential—symbolized by the asterisk (*)—and fostering connections, represented by the word knot, Astenot has spent the past ten years turning opportunities into achievements for various businesses in Kashiwa. As their anniversary approached, the question arose: instead of creating a traditional commemorative gift, why not celebrate with a toast? This idea was inspired by the deep ties Astenot has forged in the region, particularly through their base at Kashiwa-no-ha Open Innovation Lab (KOIL) since 2018.

An encounter with Kuuhara Kuu during a New Year’s party at KOIL sparked the idea of producing craft beer. By combining local brewing expertise, artistic flair, and community engagement, Astenot aimed to express gratitude to partners, clients, and the local residents who have played an integral role in their journey.

The Craft Beers

Collaborating with the Komainu Brewery, known for its commitment to creating exceptional beers rather than mass appeal, Astenot developed three distinct offerings, each adorned with original labels designed by Kuuhara. The aim was to create a shared experience that resonates with everyone, from young adults to seasoned beer aficionados.

1. Hajime (はじめ)

The first beer, Hajime, features a delicate water-press ribbon motif in its design, symbolizing the binding of possibilities to achievements. This label encapsulates Astenot's journey so far and marks the beginning of the next decade.

2. Kashiwanier - Pale Ale - (カシワニエール – PALE ALE –)

The second creation, Kashiwanier - Pale Ale -, captures the essence of the Kashiwa-no-ha Campus's Aqua Terrace. It embodies the many connections Astenot has fostered since establishing its base in Kashiwa. The vibrant labeling echoes the beauty of the scenery depicted by Kuuhara and the craftsmanship of Komainu Brewery.

3. Tega [Black] - Porter - (手賀[黒]– PORTER –)

Lastly, the Tega [Black] - Porter - invites beer lovers to toast during the enchanting evenings of Kashiwa. This dark beer represents camaraderie with staff, clients, and local residents, aiming to create memorable moments one sip at a time.

Celebrating Ten Years with the Community

Rooted in the Kashiwa-no-ha Campus since 2018, Astenot has actively contributed to the region, including partnerships with Kashiwa Reysol and NEC Green Rockets East Kanto, highlighting its commitment to growth through community engagement.

The longest-standing relationship, with an apparel company, has lasted nearly a decade, stretching from Astenot's early days under the leadership of Hiroshi Ogasawara. This continuity embodies the essence of partnership that Astenot values.
