Dan Brouillette Appointed as Co-Chairman of Torridon Group LLC
In a significant development for the strategic advisory landscape,
Dan Brouillette, the former U.S. Secretary of Energy, has accepted the role of Co-Chairman at
Torridon Group LLC. This appointment not only underscores Brouillette's extensive experience in navigating complex energy issues but also enhances the credentials of Torridon Group as it seeks to expand its influence in the advisory sector.
Brouillette’s career spans over
three decades, marking his substantial footprints in both the public and private sectors. He notably held the position of the
15th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy during the Trump administration. His leadership saw the U.S. achieve a historic milestone as a net energy exporter for the first time in generations. Under his guidance, the nation made significant strides, particularly in stabilizing global oil markets during the tumultuous period of the COVID-19 pandemic and fostering ministerial-level energy dialogues between Israel and key Middle Eastern countries.
Beyond energy diplomacy, Brouillette played a pivotal role in advancing technological frontiers. His tenure was marked by progress in
supercomputing,
artificial intelligence (AI), and
quantum information science. These innovations not only contributed to national security but also demonstrated the transformative potential of energy technologies. Recognizing his exemplary service, Brouillette received the
Distinguished Public Service Medals from both the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State, signaling his impact on U.S. energy policy and international relations.
After leaving government service, Brouillette took on the role of President and CEO at the
Edison Electric Institute (EEI), which represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Under his leadership, EEI's members served electricity to nearly
250 million Americans while ensuring representation in every state and the District of Columbia. Brouillette's expertise also extended internationally, as EEI includes over
70 global electric companies operating across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Before his tenure at EEI, he served as President of
Sempra Infrastructure, where he was instrumental in the company’s evolution from a regional operator to a global energy leader. Brouillette spearheaded major projects, including the
$10 billion Port Arthur LNG export facility, set to be one of the largest LNG export terminals in the U.S. His adaptability is further reflected in his previous roles at major organizations, including
Ford Motor Company and
USAA, as well as significant government positions that provided him with a robust foundation in both the public and private sectors.
Brouillette's rich experience also includes serving as Chief of Staff to the
U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce, an oversight body for five Cabinet-level agencies. His expertise as an Assistant Secretary of Energy from 2001 to 2003 and member of the
Louisiana State Mineral and Energy Board highlights his deep knowledge of energy regulations and policy-making.
Torridon Group’s roster already includes prominent figures such as
William P. Barr, the former Attorney General, and other distinguished executives. Barr praised Brouillette's leadership, stating, "His deep understanding of energy markets, corporate strategy, and global risk makes him an invaluable addition to Torridon."
On his new position, Brouillette expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Torridon’s elite team, emphasizing the firm’s commitment to helping clients navigate a rapidly evolving global market. “Throughout my career, I have seen how thoughtful leadership and decisive action can shape industries. I’m excited to bring that perspective to Torridon's clients at a time of unprecedented change in global markets,” he noted.
