GalCare Launches to Combat Period Poverty with Social Enterprise Solutions
GalCare: Pioneering a Revolution in Menstrual Health
In a groundbreaking initiative to tackle the crisis of period poverty, GalCare has officially launched its first fully-automated factory in Mbita, Kenya. This innovative social enterprise, co-founded by actress and activist Stephanie March, business leader Tracy McCubbin, and public health expert Peter McOdida, is set to transform the lives of women and girls by providing access to affordable, high-quality menstrual products. Over the next three years, GalCare plans to supply sanitary pads to 500,000 women, creating hundreds of jobs and establishing a replicable model for communities worldwide.
GalCare believes that addressing period poverty requires more than just charity; it demands sustainable solutions that empower women and girls. The initiative operates a model where profits are wisely reinvested into local communities, fostering both economic growth and women's leadership. Each pack of Galentine Care pads sold not only supports its production but also funds training, employment, and the provision of free pads for schoolgirls, thus fostering a closed-loop impact.
