Nominations Now Open for the 2025 IEC Young Professionals Competition—Recognizing Future Leaders in Electrotechnology

Calling Emerging Electrotechnology Professionals!

The U.S. National Committee (USNC) to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is excited to announce the opening of nominations for the prestigious IEC Young Professionals Competition for 2025. This is an incredible opportunity to spotlight outstanding emerging professionals who are making waves in the field of electrotechnical standardization and conformity assessment.

What Is the IEC Young Professionals Program?

Launched in 2010, the IEC Young Professionals Workshop aims to gather nominated individuals from various IEC National Committees around the globe. This exclusive workshop is set to take place from September 15-29, 2025, in New Delhi, India, coinciding with the IEC General Meeting. Young professionals selected for participation will join an elite group, enhancing their careers and expanding their professional network in this crucial field.

At the workshop, participants will not only enhance their understanding of standards and conformity assessment, but they will also share their own insights and ideas, contributing to the overall evolution of technology standards.

Who Should Apply?

This competition is open to young professionals who:
  • - Demonstrate leadership and a strong commitment to standards and/or conformity assessment activities.
  • - Possess a broad vision of the impact standards and conformance have on commercial and strategic ventures.
  • - Show significant accomplishments within their specific fields.

As Adelana Gladstein, director of international policy at ANSI and general secretary of the USNC/IEC puts it: “The Young Professionals Workshop is a career-defining experience designed to bring together emerging industry professionals to participate effectively in global standardization activities.” This event can unlock exciting pathways for electrotechnical innovators.

How to Nominate

The USNC/IEC is set to sponsor up to three exceptional young professionals who fulfill the eligibility requirements. Candidates can be from various sectors, including industry, government, academia, or consumer organizations—all entities that engage with the IEC’s essential work in electrotechnical standards.

For those interested, the nomination process is outlined in an online flyer and nomination form available via the USNC website. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, May 23, 2025, to Mackenzie Connors at [email protected] An evaluation panel, consisting of USNC Officers, committee members, and former award recipients, will assess the nominations, with winners being notified by June 2025.

Selected participants will receive financial support for travel, along with accommodations for up to six nights.

Conclusion

This initiative not only celebrates the achievements of young professionals but also empowers them to impact the future of electrotechnical standardization globally. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and seize this unique chance to join the forefront of electrotechnology!
