EV Charger Installation at Keihin Kyuko Bus
In a significant step towards sustainable public transport, EV Construction Co., a subsidiary of Terra Charge Corporation and member of the Japan Bus Association, has successfully installed a 90kW rapid EV charger at the Kurihama Sales Office of Keihin Kyuko Bus. This milestone marks a crucial advancement in the push for electric bus adoption in Japan, aligning with the country's objective for carbon neutrality by 2050.
Background of the Project
The Japan Bus Association has set an ambitious target to introduce 10,000 electric buses by 2030, a goal that has spurred various bus companies to accelerate their transition to electric vehicles (EVs). In this context, Keihin Kyuko Bus has emerged as a frontrunner, actively investing in state-of-the-art EV buses and charging infrastructure. The recent installation project represents part of their ongoing commitment to enhancing EV infrastructure.
The design and execution of the installation from EV Construction were aimed at optimizing the layout, making it more user-friendly. This project underscores the company’s capability to leverage its extensive experience in charging infrastructure installation and operation, ensuring that future developments remain cost-effective and make optimal use of available subsidies.
Details of the Charger Installed
The new rapid charger, positioned at the Kurihama Sales Office located at 2-11-1 Nagase, Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, consists of a separate charging unit with three dispensers. This marks the second setup of the separate rapid charger at the facility, which effectively utilizes limited space by enabling the simultaneous operation of multiple chargers, thereby enhancing the efficiency of EV bus charging.

Tailored Charging Solutions
Rather than promoting a specific charger model, EV Construction prioritizes finding the most rational charging solution tailored to the customer’s fleet, operational plans, and the specific circumstances of the sales office. This approach includes selecting and proposing chargers, installation work, and EMS (Energy Management System) solutions that align with customer needs. In addition to chargers, the company also offers customized proposals for diverse power supply equipment, including transformers, storage batteries, and solar power installations, leveraging their extensive network in electrical equipment sourcing.
Future Developments
Looking ahead, EV Construction is committed to enhancing public transportation through the development of robust charging infrastructure. A key focus will be on providing optimal charging environments at operational hubs such as bus depots, aligned with vehicle utilization schedules, thus supporting transport operators in achieving their carbon neutrality goals.
The collaboration with local businesses and partner industries will be pivotal in optimizing infrastructure and driving value creation towards a sustainable mobility society. EV Construction is on a path to fortify its position as a crucial player in the electric mobility landscape, investing in the future of transportation.
