Taisho University Opens Its Campus as a Cool Sharing Spot for Summer Relief

Taisho University's Cool Sharing Spot Initiative

In response to the ongoing heatwaves and the rising concern of heat-related illnesses, Taisho University, located in Toshima, Tokyo, has declared certain areas on its campus as "Cool Sharing Spots". These facilities are open to the public, providing a safe and comfortable environment to escape the heat.

The initiative is significant as it aligns with the university's commitment to community welfare and social responsibility. By offering a space equipped with air conditioning, the university aims to support those seeking relief from the oppressive temperatures, ensuring they can stay cool and unobstructed during the hottest months of the year.

Features of the Cool Sharing Spots

  • - Facilities Available: The selected locations include fully air-conditioned areas with restrooms, vending machines, tables, and chairs, creating a welcoming atmosphere conducive to relaxation. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks, making it an ideal spot for solitary contemplation or social gatherings with friends and family.

  • - Accessible Resources: Visitors can engage with an assortment of newspapers, books, and picture books available for free browsing. This feature is particularly appealing for families with small children, allowing parents to enjoy a brief respite while keeping their little ones entertained in a safe environment.

Opening Schedule

The Cool Sharing Spots will be available from July 29 to September 19, 2025. However, the initiative will not operate on Sundays and national holidays. Noteworthy exceptions include the closure from August 9 to 17 and the non-operation on August 23 and 30 due to scheduled open campus events.

  • - Weekday Access: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • - Saturday Access: From 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • - Location: The primary accessibility is at the first floor of Building 8, with alternate access at the first floor of Building 3 for events that occupy the primary space.

Important Notes

While the initiative welcomes everyone, children under elementary school age should not use the facilities unaccompanied. This policy aims to ensure the safety and security of all visitors.
