EliTe Solar Launches 5GW Solar Production Center in Egypt to Boost Renewable Energy Goals

EliTe Solar's Ambitious Move in Egypt

On December 16, 2024, EliTe Solar, a prominent solar photovoltaic manufacturer from Singapore, commenced the construction of a major solar production facility in Suez, Egypt. This new plant, set to have a production capacity of 5 gigawatts (GW) over a vast area of 78,000 square meters, illustrates the company's strategic expansion in the global market.

The ceremony marking the site’s groundbreaking was attended by distinguished guests, including Waleid Gamal Eldien, president of the Suez Canal Economic Zone; Ouyang Xiaoming, chief secretary of the Chinese embassy in Egypt; and Li Daixin, president of China-Africa TEDA Investment Co. Ltd.

Mr. Eldien stated, "The launch of this project signifies a significant development in Egypt's solar industry. By introducing advanced solar production technologies and optimizing local supply chains, we will raise the overall manufacturing standards in the country. EliTe Solar's expertise in advanced technology and management will enhance Egypt's global position in the solar energy sector."

EliTe's project is expected to not only transform the local energy landscape but also stimulate the growth of Egypt’s solar industry. Upon completion, it aims to produce an estimated 500 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually, translating to the equivalent carbon offset of planting 84 million trees. This initiative is pivotal for Egypt to achieve its renewable energy goal of generating 42% of power from clean sources by 2030.

As the nation grapples with recent electricity shortages, the introduction of this solar facility is seen as a crucial solution to ensure energy security and independence by diversifying the energy mix. "With this facility, we aim to significantly alleviate the current energy demands and provide sustainable solutions through renewable energy," said Liu Jingqi, president of EliTe Solar.

The collaboration between EliTe Solar and local Egyptian authorities signals a promising future for Egypt as a key player in the solar production market within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. With initiatives like these, Egypt is well on its way to positioning itself as a solar energy powerhouse, bolstering its supply chain capabilities and setting the stage for a sustainable economic growth trajectory.

EliTe Solar, established in 2005, has consistently committed to customer service excellence and profitability through the delivery of over 10GW of solar modules worldwide. This facility will further consolidate its international manufacturing presence, complementing existing plants in countries like Vietnam and Indonesia.

In summary, EliTe Solar's 5GW solar production hub in Egypt not only emphasizes the company's dedication to innovation in renewable energy but also marks a significant milestone in the region's energy strategy. As the facility gears up for production by September 2025, it will undoubtedly play a crucial role in advancing Egypt's renewable energy objectives and establishing the country as a leader in solar energy production on a global scale.
