Canon Marketing Japan Leverages TechTouch for HR Improvements

In a groundbreaking move to improve human resource management, Canon Marketing Japan Inc. (Canon MJ), based in Minato, Tokyo, has successfully integrated the TechTouch platform into its HR systems. This integration aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve the employee experience, achieving remarkable results just two months after its implementation, with approximately 2,000 work hours saved.

Background of Implementation

Canon MJ, a key player in Japan's marketing sector under the Canon Group umbrella, not only focuses on marketing but also on enhancing its IT solutions capabilities. The firm is engaged in several initiatives aimed at restructuring its operational foundation, which include process standardization and system upgrades. By promoting data-driven management, Canon MJ is strategically addressing challenges and driving new business creation as part of its commitment to value creation.

As Canon MJ launched its new HR core system in 2025, they identified challenges regarding user navigation that could lead to decreased efficiency and errors, especially during infrequent tasks such as year-end tax adjustments. Traditional methods, like distributing manuals and FAQs, fell short in providing real-time support, resulting in increased inquiries to the HR department and numerous corrections.

To tackle these issues, Canon MJ decided on TechTouch as a solution providing in-process navigation to guide users effectively, thereby boosting operational accuracy and efficiency.

Factors Leading to TechTouch Adoption

TechTouch was selected for its ability to be deployed and scaled quickly, alongside its user-friendly management functionalities that encourage ongoing improvement at the staff level. Canon MJ initially implemented TechTouch for year-end tax adjustments, and the plans have since expanded to include goal-setting and application portals.

Moreover, with an environment where team members can independently create guides, a cycle of self-managed improvement has been established.

Outcomes and Future Aspirations

Over the subsequent two months of operation, TechTouch was rolled out to about 13,000 employees, yielding approximately 2,000 hours of saved work time. The utility of the system has been confirmed through employee surveys, demonstrating that its integration has begun to solidify successfully in quantitative and qualitative measures. Additionally, this deployment has contributed to a substantial reduction in auxiliary tasks such as queries and corrections directed towards HR, complementing Canon MJ's efforts toward efficiency.

Looking ahead, plans include expanding the use of TechTouch to encompass not just year-end tax adjustments and goal-setting efforts, but also to cover attendance and other complex HR tasks. Additionally, extending the implementation to group companies yet to adopt the system is also part of Canon MJ's strategy. Canon MJ has formalized a business partnership with TechTouch Inc. regarding the sales and implementation of the TechTouch platform, intending to leverage insights gained from internal use to support client efficiency improvements and system utilization.
