Blood Cancer United Launches Light The Night
The renowned organization now known as Blood Cancer United®, previously The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, is officially launching its highlight community event,
Light The Night, this September in recognition of Blood Cancer Awareness Month. This event marks a transformative step toward uniting and mobilizing support for individuals affected by blood cancer.
New Brand Identity
On August 28, Blood Cancer United introduced its new brand identity, signaling a fresh approach in its commitment to blood cancer patients. This rebranding reflects the evolution of the organization over the years, as it remains steadfast in its mission to advocate for improved lives and outcomes for those affected by blood cancers. The integration of the new brand will be prominently displayed during the
Light The Night events scheduled across nearly 100 cities, where participants carry lanterns in a symbolic act of unity and remembrance.
Event Highlights
The Light The Night series honors survivors, caregivers, and supporters by lighting the way toward a future free from blood cancer. The inaugural event of the season will take place on September 12 in Buffalo, NY, with subsequent events throughout the fall. Attendees of these events come together to walk a mile holding lanterns, creating a poignant visual testament to their shared commitment to this cause.
"With our new name and refreshed look at Light The Night, we're making it crystal clear who we are and who we serve, which is all blood cancer patients," remarked
Coker Powell, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer at Blood Cancer United. "Every lantern lit sends a powerful message that no one faces blood cancer alone."
United in Mission
In addition to the new branding, Blood Cancer United will launch
United in Mission (UIM) during Light The Night events. This initiative will feature a 3D interactive sculpture that encourages attendees to reflect on important life moments. This experience will also extend to various peer-to-peer fundraising events organized by Blood Cancer United, further reinforcing the organization's commitment to community engagement.
Honored Hero
This year's Light The Night Honored Hero is
Sofia from Charlotte, NC, a brave kindergartner currently battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Throughout the event season, the community will rally behind Sofia and her family, lighting the way for them and many other patients facing similar challenges.
2025 National Sponsors
To support the expanded reach and efficacy of the Light The Night campaign, Blood Cancer United proudly announces its 2025 National Sponsors:
- - National Presenting Sponsor: BeOne Medicines
