Epsilor Launches State-of-the-Art 6T Battery
Epsilor Electric Fuel Ltd., a leading name in the field of smart Li-Ion batteries and chargers, has made significant strides with their newly developed NATO 6T battery, designed specifically for military vehicles. This innovative product, named ELI-52526-GM, showcases an impressive energy capacity of
4,400Wh/174Ah. What sets this 6T battery apart is its energy density, which is
six times greater than conventional lead-acid batteries and
50% more than any competing Li-Ion models on the market.
The upcoming
International Armored Vehicles Conference, set to take place in Farnborough, UK from
January 21-23, 2025, will serve as the launching point for this revolutionary battery. Attendees will get firsthand experience of its capabilities, designed to enhance the operational efficiency of military applications.
Rigorous Testing Ensuring Quality and Compliance
Over the past year, Epsilor has subjected its COMBATT 6T batteries to stringent testing protocols in collaboration with independent laboratories based in the US. These tests are a part of the certification process aimed at meeting the
US ARMY Military Performance Specification Compliance (MIL-PRF-32565C - TYPE 2). The evaluation methods include critical assessments such as bullet penetration tests, heat resilience up to 500˚C, and performance validation under extreme weather conditions. The overall lifecycle and compatibility with a variety of military platforms have also been key focus areas for this testing regimen.
A New Era of Battery Technology
The ELI-52526-GM is engineered specifically for defense vehicles and deployable systems, promising unmatched energy capacity at a weight of only
28kg. This represents a substantial upgrade for military operations that require a high energy-to-weight ratio, enabling prolonged missions without the need for frequent recharging or battery changes.
During the last decade, there has been a growing reliance on Lithium 6T batteries in numerous military applications, including long-duration surveillance missions, energy recovery systems, and hybrid vehicle operations. The versatility of these batteries is also evident in their support for robotics and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), as well as auxiliary energy storage systems.
Addressing Safety Concerns
One of the highlights of Epsilor’s latest battery technology is its approach to safety, which has been a major hurdle in the development of Lithium-ion batteries. Ronen Badichi, President of the AROTECH Energy Solutions Division and Epsilor's General Manager, emphasized the novelty of their unique energy-absorbing design which allows the battery to achieve the highest energy capacity within the 6T category while adhering to the stringent safety and operational standards mandated by the US ARMY.
Diverse Product Range for Defense Applications
Epsilor markets a diverse range of NATO standard 6T Lithium batteries, tailored to fit a variety of operational requirements. Among their offerings:
- - COMBATT ELI-52526-DM/GM: High-capacity Li-Ion batteries featuring energy capacities ranging from 3.6kWh to 4.4kWh (144Ah-174Ah). These batteries adhere to the MIL-PRF-32565C (Type 2) specifications.
- - COMBATT ELP-02426-M: A high-capacity LFP battery recognized for its inherent safety and energy density of 2,560Wh/100Ah, complying with the safety descriptors of MIL-PRF-32565C (Type 1).
