This strategic move aims to bolster the organization’s legal prowess and help realize its mission to enhance community health now and in the future.

Reynolds is recognized for his adeptness in leading large-scale negotiations, managing litigation, and working alongside operational leaders to deliver strategic legal insights. With more than 25 years of experience in healthcare law, both as in-house counsel and external advisor, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role.

David L. Callender, MD, FACS, President and CEO of Memorial Hermann, expressed enthusiasm about Reynolds joining the executive team. "We are thrilled to have Max join Memorial Hermann and the executive leadership team," he stated. "His deep experience and demonstrated success navigating complex legal matters across a broad range of health care disciplines will be essential as we work to fulfill our mission of improving health for all we serve."

Before joining Memorial Hermann, Reynolds served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at John Muir Health in the San Francisco Bay Area. There, he was responsible for overseeing the system's legal, compliance, internal audit, and information security functions. His responsibilities were significant; he managed litigation and investigations and provided counsel in various areas like corporate governance, acquisitions, joint ventures, and risk management.

Reynolds expressed his excitement about the new role, saying, "I am honored to join Memorial Hermann and excited to be part of a mission-driven organization committed to shaping the future of care delivery. In today's rapidly evolving health care environment, it's more important than ever that legal strategies and capabilities keep pace with the changing landscape."

His previous work involved oversight of legal services at major academic medical centers within the University of California system.

Before his contributions to higher education healthcare, Reynolds was a partner in the Health Law Department at McDermott, Will & Emery LLP in Washington, D.C., and initially worked as an associate at Shaw Pittman. He earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University and powered through to complete his J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law.

The strategic appointment of Max Reynolds is expected to bring fresh perspectives and enhanced legal strategies that align with the ambitious goals of Memorial Hermann. As the organization strives to advocate for healthier communities, Reynold’s extensive experience in navigating complex healthcare issues will prove invaluable in achieving these objectives.
