The film 'Aisarenakute mo Betzu ni,' starring Sara Minami and directed by Ayaka Igashi, is set to hit theaters nationwide on July 4. As a precursor to its release, the TOHO Gakuen School of Film and Animation in Shinjuku, Tokyo, will be hosting an exclusive special lecture featuring Ayaka Igashi and producer Shintaro Sato on June 21. About the Film
'Aisarenakute mo Betzu ni' adapts the popular novel by Ayano Takeda, known for its hit TV anime adaptation 'Hibike! Euphonium.' The film follows university students portrayed by Minami and Fumika Baba, navigating the challenges posed by toxic parental relationships. The writer and director, Ayaka Igashi, made her mark in cinema during her time at TOHO Gakuen, becoming the youngest Japanese filmmaker to officially participate in the Cannes Film Festival's Cinéfondation category with her short film 'Tokeru.' She has since directed various projects including films and music videos that have garnered significant attention.
Story Summary
The story kicks off with protagonist Hiiro Miyata, who struggles with a dismal university life. Torn between studying and being a caretaker for her wasteful mother while juggling a part-time job, Hiiro finds little time for herself or her friends. Her life begins to unravel when she overhears a shocking rumor about her classmate, Miyabi Enaga, whom she perceives as a stark contrast to her own subdued existence. Their fateful encounter leads both characters to reevaluate their lives and relationships, bringing forth unexpected transformations.
