Experience the Allure of Wide Plank Flooring
WoodOne, a leading manufacturer of wood materials based in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is excited to announce its upcoming monitor program for architects and designers. From July 30, 2026, to November 30, 2026, participants will have a unique opportunity to experience the WO Timeless Standard Collection, specifically the impressive wide plank flooring designed to enhance any space.
Choosing the right flooring material is crucial in interior and architectural design, significantly affecting the overall feel, aesthetics, and comfort of a space. This trial program invites designers to engage with the 30 cm wide and 3 m long WO Wide Plank Flooring, showcasing its potential to transform both residential and commercial spaces. Applications are open to architectural firms and companies that handle various projects, encouraging widespread participation.
In collaboration with Tecture Inc., initiator and operation partner of TECTURE MAG, this endeavor aims to bridge diverse fields—including architecture, interior design, business, fashion, and art—to foster creative approaches to design. TECTURE MAG serves as a forward-thinking spatial design media outlet, supporting creative pursuits through innovative design solutions.
Product Highlights: WO Wide Plank Flooring
The WO Wide Plank Flooring embodies a luxurious scale, with each panel measuring 303 mm in width and 3,030 mm in length. This generous sizing minimizes floor seams, showcasing the natural beauty and dynamic patterns of real wood, while creating a serene and expansive ambiance in the space.
Moreover, the flooring is designed to accommodate underfloor heating, combining aesthetic appeal with unparalleled comfort. The use of a thicker veneer—approximately five times the usual thickness—and a special treatment enhances the texture of the wood, allowing users to experience its warmth underfoot. It retains a natural look similar to unfinished wood while also providing ease of maintenance with a durable urethane finish.
Sustainability is at the core of the WO Wide Plank Flooring, which stems from WoodOne’s commitment to a cyclical forestry practice. This flooring material emerges from a sustainable cycle of planting, nurturing, and selectively harvesting tree saplings cultivated over more than 30 years. As users enjoy this flooring, they can appreciate its evolving character over time.
Designer's Insight
Naoto Fukasawa, the product designer behind WO, emphasizes the significance of wooden building materials in enriching living spaces. He believes that changes over time—whether discoloration, scratches, or an increase in sheen—should be viewed as enhancements rather than deterioration. Each piece of WO flooring resonates with the journey of life, transforming the environment into a harmonious refuge. The unique 30 cm wide planks, crafted from New Zealand pine, represent a remarkable addition to Japan’s flooring market and are compatible with underfloor heating systems, initiating a project for solid wood fittings that meticulously balances beauty and functionality.
