Strengthening Disaster Resilience in Shirakawa City

Remixpoint Inc., a company based in Tokyo, held a significant signing ceremony in Shirakawa City, Fukushima. The event marked the establishment of a disaster support agreement aimed at bolstering local resilience and maintaining essential services during emergencies. This partnership utilizes Remixpoint's battery storage system, located in
NC Shirakawa City Omotegou Banzawa, to provide essential power to the region's infrastructure in times of need.
During the ceremony, Remixpoint also donated four portable batteries to Shirakawa City for emergency preparedness. These batteries are intended to serve as immediate support for local residents in the event of a disaster, thus enhancing the city’s overall emergency response capabilities.
The core of this agreement revolves around leveraging Remixpoint's stored energy resources. During ordinary conditions, the facility aids in stabilizing the electricity supply and demand within the city, while in times of crisis, it serves as a vital electricity supply point for local residents.

Enhancing Local Infrastructure
The NC Shirakawa City battery storage facility is equipped with external power outlets that allow qualified technicians to operate the system in emergencies, making stored electricity available for external use. This can facilitate essential services, such as charging portable batteries and smartphones, which are vital during a crisis.
In scenarios where power is critically needed, Remixpoint's system can deliver energy to disaster response centers and evacuation shelters, helping maintain functionality and support essential services. For instance, a two-person household typically requires around 17 kWh of electricity over 72 hours. Therefore, with a storage capacity of approximately
8 MWh, or
8,146 kWh, the facility can potentially supply power for about
470 households for the same period, showcasing its critical role as regional infrastructure during emergencies.
Future Commitments
Remixpoint aims to develop a total of
32 high-capacity battery storage facilities by March 2029, with a target of owning more than
20 of these facilities. Currently, the company manages nine battery storage units, and Shirakawa's agreement marks the second noteworthy partnership. Looking ahead, Remixpoint plans to continue fostering collaborations with various regions to enhance local disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
