Alaska Airlines is building on its international expansion by launching a new daily direct service between Seattle and London Heathrow. Additionally, Alaska Airlines plans to add service to Reykjavík, Iceland on May 28, further expanding its European network.

He stated that the airline is committed to enhancing the travel experience for clients traveling from the U.S. to Europe and vice versa, ensuring they receive the hallmark Northwest hospitality at every stage of their journey.
The service to London operates from Terminal 3 at Heathrow, offering travelers a direct connection to one of the world's most iconic cities. From there, passengers can enjoy seamless connections to other major destinations in Europe thanks to partnerships with various airlines in the oneworld alliance. This new service is not only beneficial to travelers in the U.S. but also allows U.K. travelers to explore the Pacific Northwest and beyond, supported by the extensive network that Alaska Airlines has developed along the West Coast, including flights to Hawaii.
For passengers loyal to Alaska, those with the Alaska Lounge+ membership now have access to select lounges around the world, such as the Admirals Club at London Heathrow. Moreover, international business class travelers will enjoy access to partner lounges regardless of their cabin class.
Ross Baker, the customer director at London Heathrow Airport, highlighted the benefits of Alaska Airlines’ new service, stating that it strengthens the transatlantic network between the U.K. and the West Coast of the U.S. The new routes will not only enhance passenger choice but will also facilitate greater trade opportunities between both regions, supported further by the cargo capabilities of the airline.
On May 28, Alaska Airlines will commence its seasonal service to Reykjavík, which will coincide with the busy summer travel season in Iceland. This route presents an opportunity for passengers to visit one of the top locations globally for the total solar eclipse in August 2026. Travelers can also connect seamlessly to additional European destinations through Alaska Airlines’ partner airlines, with Icelandair operating numerous daily departures from Reykjavík.
In addition to expanding its route offerings, Alaska Airlines is also investing significantly in enhancing the customer experience. The airline plans to open a state-of-the-art lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport by the end of 2027. This lounge will be the largest in the airport and one of the biggest in the country, designed to provide a premium, world-class experience with over 41,000 square feet of space and a capacity of approximately 700 seats across two levels.
The lounge will include showers, multiple bars featuring premium beverages, and a seasonal menu crafted by top chefs, providing travelers with a unique dining experience before their flights. The main level will cater to Alaska Lounge members and first-class passengers, while the upper level will be dedicated to international long-haul travelers.
Alaska Airlines is also enhancing its long-haul international flights, particularly with the introduction of international business class suites on its expanding fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. These suites offer a refined travel experience, featuring luxurious bedding, multi-course meals, and high-end travel kits.
