Dr. Tedra S. Smith has been appointed as the new editor of
Pediatric Nursing, succeeding the esteemed
Dr. Judy Rollins. Dr. Smith brings with her a wealth of experience and a robust background in both editorial and clinical practices. With over five years as a member of the journal's Editorial Board and recent experience as Associate Editor, her leadership is poised to elevate the journal to new heights.
Dr. Smith is recognized for her expertise in pediatric care, having authored an impressive
37 journal articles and several book chapters. Her role as Co-Director of the
Children's of Alabama Clinical Scholars Program highlights her commitment to nursing education and quality improvement initiatives. This 12-month program focuses on developing nursing talent through interprofessional collaboration, embodying her philosophy of teamwork and continuous learning.
As we welcome Dr. Smith, we fondly acknowledge the significant contributions made by Dr. Judy Rollins over the past 15 years. Having served as editor since 2010, Dr. Rollins has been instrumental in defining the journal's mission and ensuring its editorial integrity. Her departure marks the end of an era, one characterized by her expertise and dedication.

Rollins Associates Research and Consulting and adjunct assistant professor at
Georgetown University. Her departure is bittersweet, yet she expresses confidence in Dr. Smith's capabilities. "I leave the editorship in the capable hands of Tedra Smith, a brilliant nurse leader. I eagerly anticipate how her innovative ideas will push the journal forward," Dr. Rollins remarked.
