CTA Construction Managers Breaks Ground on New Green Meadow Elementary School

New Green Meadow Elementary School Project

CTA Construction Managers has proudly initiated construction on the new Green Meadow Elementary School, located in Maynard, Massachusetts. This exciting project, awarded in the summer of 2025, reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to enhancing educational facilities throughout the region. The school is designed to serve approximately 395 students from kindergarten to third grade, incorporating a specialized Pre-K program to accommodate around 100 children.

Design and Facilities

Designed by Mount Vernon Group Architects, the new school will span 90,525 square feet over two levels, facilitating a modern and efficient educational environment. The layout features a central core that houses essential shared spaces including a gymnasium, cafetorium, administrative offices, a health suite, and a media center. This central hub is complemented by two distinct classroom neighborhoods tailored for different learning levels from Pre-K to grade 3.

Chris LeBlanc, a Senior Associate at Mount Vernon Group Architects, emphasized the forward-thinking design that prioritizes community interaction and supports children’s diverse educational needs. Each wing of the school will be equipped with classrooms for general and special education, functional support spaces, common areas for both students and staff, and dedicated restrooms.

Location and Challenges

The site for the new school is strategically placed on a 33-acre plot, adjacent to residential neighborhoods and a local park, promoting a sense of community. Importantly, the new construction site is in close proximity to the existing school, which has presented logistical challenges during the project’s initiation phase. Phil Palumbo, Director at Colliers Project Leaders, reported that the team is employing careful planning to navigate the complexities of maintaining operations while building the new facility.

Upon completion of the new Green Meadow Elementary School, slated for summer 2027, the current structure will be demolished to facilitate further site development. This strategic approach ensures that educational services remain uninterrupted throughout the transitional period.

A Legacy of Commitment

Lyle Coghlin, Principal at CTA Construction Managers, expressed enthusiasm about returning to Maynard, a community with which they have established a strong relationship thanks to previous successful projects, including the award-winning Maynard High School. He noted that this project is a testament to CTA's dedicated partnerships with esteemed firms like Mount Vernon Group Architects and Colliers Project Leaders, all working toward a shared vision of creating innovative and sustainable learning environments.

This construction marks the fourth collaboration between CTA and Mount Vernon Group, as well as the fourth undertaking with Colliers Project Leaders, illustrating over 12 years of fruitful partnerships focused on educational construction.

As construction advances, the CTA Construction Managers team has already completed the foundation, setting a solid groundwork for what promises to be a vibrant and essential facility for the Maynard community. CTA Construction Managers and its partners are eager to see this vision come to fruition, ensuring that future generations have access to state-of-the-art educational resources.
