FANCL's Empowering Initiative for Women
On March 8, International Women's Day, FANCL, a renowned Japanese company, organized a significant seminar on menopause at the Nihonbashi Takashimaya Mitsui Building. The event featured Dr. Miho Takao, a respected gynecologist, and drew interest from 512 applicants, out of which 94 were selected to attend. This seminar is part of FANCL's ongoing commitment to support women's health, culminating in their initiative called 'FANCL MENOPAUSEACTION,' set to launch in October 2024.
The seminar commenced with an insightful discussion on the differences between men and women, focusing on hormonal variations and their profound effects on women's health. Dr. Takao elaborated on how decreasing levels of female hormones can impact various bodily functions, emphasizing the significant role hormones play throughout a woman’s life. This foundational understanding set the stage to delve deeply into menopause, its implications, and how it intersects with lifestyle and health.
As participants learned about the timing and symptoms of menopause, Dr. Takao highlighted its relationship with beauty and bone density, presenting best practices for care. Notably, the seminar addressed the broader societal challenges posed by menopause, particularly the importance of recognizing and managing symptoms effectively. Dr. Takao stressed that understanding menopause is vital; awareness and education on the subject can lead to more effective self-care and symptom relief.
After the initial presentation, attendees engaged in a question-and-answer session, allowing them to clarify doubts and deepen their understanding. Dr. Takao also guided participants through recommended stretches, fostering a sense of community and shared learning. This portion of the seminar lasted approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes and concluded to enthusiastic feedback from the audience.
In addition to the informative talks, attendees were invited to participate in health check activities. Stations were set up where individuals could undergo quick assessments like the 'Bone WaveⓇ' for bone health, 'Skin Check Coop' for a comprehensive skin analysis, and vascular age testing, all of which received high participation rates.
Post-seminar surveys revealed complete satisfaction; all 86 respondents expressed they were pleased with the event. Many provided comments such as, "I thought I knew about menopause, but I learned a lot of new information that made my time here worthwhile," and "My anxiety about menopause has eased, and I was delighted to have access to various health checks." These insights underscore FANCL's dedication to fostering knowledge and awareness, key components to navigating menopause with confidence and less burden.
