Dragon Shield and Beckett Launch TCG Card to the Edge of Space for Charity
Dragon Shield and Beckett: Pioneering the Ultimate Test for TCG Cards
In an awe-inspiring collaboration, Dragon Shield and Beckett have set new heights—literally—by sending the first-ever sleeved trading card game (TCG) card to the very edge of space.
This groundbreaking initiative, launched from Aarhus, Denmark, saw a rare Beckett Black Label Pokémon card embarking on a 180-minute journey into the stratosphere, all while securely encased in a trio of Dragon Shield sleeves. The layers of protection included a Sealable Perfect Fit Inner Sleeve, a Matte Dual Art Sleeve, and an Outer Sleeve, ensuring it could withstand the harsh conditions of space, including extreme temperatures and high winds.
The card's extraordinary voyage was made possible through the partnership with Sent Into Space, a company specializing in space-related launches. Upon its return to Earth, the card was resubmitted to Beckett, where it was confirmed to have retained its coveted Black Label status. In the words of Kevin Isaacson, CEO of Collēctīvus Holdings, “If Dragon Shield can protect cards in space, imagine what it can do for collections at home.”
This unique initiative not only showcased the durability of Dragon Shield products but also served a philanthropic purpose. The rare Pokémon card will be auctioned to benefit The Toy Foundation, a charity dedicated to providing toys to children in need. The auction will occur from November 12 to November 19 and invites collectors to own a piece of history.
In celebration of this monumental event, Dragon Shield will be offering a limited-edition set of
